Hello. I am posting this in the Texas forum because I live in and am licensed in TX. However, anyone is welcome to reply. I received a certified piece of mail to my new address that I have lived at for only 7 weeks, adressed to my name, RN. It is ...
This past week I had an "interview" with a Nurse Educator about this particular hospital's internships. The very first time I spoke with the nurse recruiter, I told her which areas I was interested in working in, which is mainly Pediatrics. She sai...
I dont think you did anything wrong. Every instructor I had was like that. I have been out of school for almost three months and I am going to guarantee you that how much you mess up in school has no relationship to anything in your real nursing ca...
Hi everyone, I would just like some input from those who have more experience than I do. I am a new RN and started my job in January. I was hired in Dec. for a night position on a pedi floor, which is exactly what I wanted. I have never been the...
Thanks so much for all of the replies!! I really needed other points of view. Even though they are all different, they are helpful. When I was hired, she said she only "needed" me for nights, like that was it if I wanted the job, and I could requ...
Dear so and so, I officially resign my position with (insert workplace) as a (insert title) effective (insert date), two weeks from today. Sincerely, Your Name
I am a new nurse working in Pediatrics. Kids are just different....they react totally different than adults do to being in the hospital, usually. (there are always exceptions.) If you havent already I would look at developmental stages, like Eriks...
Hi, I am a new RN. I have been to orientation at the hospital where I am working, and I met a lot of people. However, none of these will be working with me. I am the only new RN on this floor. I haven't met my preceptor yet. I am basically nervo...
Dear Trying, I just graduated in Dec. I had good grades as well and great experiences with instructors until my last semester. In fact, I posted about this particular instructor on this board back in Nov. because I was so upset. I almost let it af...
When did you take/when are you taking NCLEX? Did you pass? Make sure and post again when you pass. I am testing Wednesday the 14th, in 5 days. I am glad to get it over with before I start work on the 19th. A tip I learned this week- Everything you ...
I took it today. I was WAY harder than I thought! I don't know if it was the anxiety from knowing that I REALLY needed to pass or what, but I was really surprised. In school I could always narrow the answers down to 1 or 2 and always came out on t...
I wouldn't say that you are scary. I have always lived in the South, and I know that some patients will be rude to a transgender nurse/student. I have had a pt. recently make a comment about a nurse who was black. Whether or not it's right, people...
I did a review course this week, Mon-Wed. It was quite honestly very long and boring. Positive aspects were like someone said before-feeling like I am doing as much as possible to study. But I really believe that new testing strategies are hard to...

if you fail, you can't practice as a GN, even if your GN permit is still valid. You have to wait 90 days before retaking it, and you can take it a total of 3 times. (this is in texas.) im sure it differs from state to state.

I agree that the article about the shortage in Collin County is a huge pile of BS. I applied to every hospital in Collin County, where I am originally from, to work as a GN. I applied on line, called, faxed, and was not given the time of day. I h...
Hi SarahCeleste! I have lived in Lubbock for 2 1/2 years. I graduated in December from South Plains ADN program. I will be working at UMC in Peds. I and the majority of those I went to school with would agree that UMC is a far superior hospital. ...
Out of curiosity, I am wondering if there are a lot of new nurses working in Dallas. I am from the Dallas area, but I went to school in Lubbock. I searched for a job here in Dallas from August until early December and had 3 interviews. I applied a...
