  1. Cheating In School

Hi, currently a nursing student with NO tolerance for cheaters. I've actually had people ask me for answers during the exams... I'm one of those really mean people who gives out wrong answers to people who ask me....(evil grin). Nobody asked me for...
  2. whiners in your class

Ah, finally a topic near and dear to me..... I had a lecture course last semester (lifespan development) in which I was one of two men in a class of about 50. I always sat near the front, but the worst part of the class was the twenty or so sorority...
  3. Should I drop this class????

As long as proper lab technique and proper handwashing is observed, I wouldn't think there would be a problem (just finished a micro course). D.
  4. Bilingual or not?

Before I got into nursing, I had taken four and a half years of Russian. Not very useful in Indiana, to say the least. So now I'm biting the bullet and enrolling in Spanish 101 in the fall. It was going to have to happen sometime, I reckon. D.
  5. Stethoscope suggestions

I received a Littman Classic II SE as a gift before I started nursing school. I've used it a few times and I reeeeallly like it. I know others who rave about the Littman Master Cardiology, but it's EXPENSIVE!!! I'd go with a Littman...but then aga...
  6. "I didn't know you were gay"

I'm a male nursing student, and the other day I worked on our hospital's ortho/neuro rehab unit with an all-male staff. Total scheduling coincidence, but the nurses, aides, and therapists were all men. It was one of the best shifts I've ever worked...
  7. Is Nursing School a "Survivor Series"?

As a student myself, I have observed that nursing school can be a textbook example of Darwinism. A rather crude analogy, but that's how I relate some of the high drop rates you see when some students realize what they're getting into. I just finish...
  8. I have to be bathed by my classmate???

Bella, at first I was not going to dignify your post with a response, though I would like to point out that if you take a poll, you will likely find that many more schools than you think require students to bath each other. It is not done as a way t...
  9. belly shirts in an interview?

All I've got to say about the Grateful Dead shirt is....eek. My pet peeve (being a nursing student and also working in a hospital) is women who come to class/work after having marinated in their favorite discount perfume, making those around them hal...
  10. I have to be bathed by my classmate???

Where I'm going to school (major mid-western university), we bath each other in our first semester clinical. We wear bathing suits. Being a big dude (6'5", 300lbs or so), I've had some students uneasy about being my partner for that particular exer...
  11. Anyone looking into using a PDA for School?

I'm currently using a Palm Tungsten C, and it ROCKS! Definitely stick with the palm operating system, the more memory the better, I really like the high-res color screens on the Palm Tungsten PDA's. Skyscape has many excellent nursing programs avai...
  12. microbiology study techniques

Hi all, Been watching the boards for a while, but not posted. Was wondering if anyone had any tips on studying for microbiology. I'm at Purdue, and our micro class is, for all practical purposes, lethal. Any and all feedback is welcome.... (prayin...

  14. What are you going to do during the summer?

I'll be working full time, probably nights, as an aide and a ward clerk at one of the local hospitals. I find working as an aide is probably the best thing you can do if you are in or getting ready to enter nursing school. Of course, you'll probabl...
  15. Ancient Chinese Torture

Yowch! Congratulations, you made me laugh out loud in a crowded computer lab! Dan

  18. Do you Smoke?...Be honest...Please

I don't really know how to weigh in on this. I do smoke, but I only average about a pack a month. I only smoke if I'm at a bar w/ some friends, it's strictly social. Though every now and again I will go and buy a decent cigar (once a month or so)....
  19. Got a clue?

Just a thought, I could be waaaaaaaaaaay off base. What about a TIA? A friend of mine had one a while back, the symptoms sound similar. CAT scan and MRI were negative. Just thought I'd throw that out there. Dan
  20. sleeping staff

Hi all, just found this thread and thought I'd throw in my two cents, if I may.... I'm starting nursing school this fall, and I have quite a few nurses in my family, all who have encountered employees sleeping on the night shift. I find it disgustin...
  21. Does anyone else find this odd?

Hi all, long time no post..... I'm starting nursing school (diploma program) at one of the local hospitals here in town. Thinking it would do me well to work in a hospital environment, I applied for a job there as a nurse's aide. Good idea right? W...
  22. Understanding men!!!???

Gotta say, that's some funny stuff going on there.... Here's a situation....a conundrum, if you will, showing the stereotypes some children (and some adults, from what I've seen) still harbor: On top of being a nursing student, I also teach clarinet ...
  23. A very sad day for me.

I couldn't have put it better myself. I've wandered about the realms of academia for awhile and the current world situations have made me realize that what I'm doing is a good thing, that I'm doing the right thing for myself and for others, and that...
  24. New Member Here!

Slavics was interesting....though I quckly discovered that I really wasn't going make much money at all in that line of work. I took enough Russian (4 1/2 years) that I'm now quasi-fluent. So......yeah......does anybody need help on their Russian ...

Hi everyone! Just wanted to start out by saying that, from what I've read so far, I think this is a great board, and I hope it will be more constructive than other boards I've looked at, lol. My name's Dan, I just got accepted into nursing school in ...
