  7. Help! Where to work near Carlsbad/OC or San Diego?

I looked at the new ICU at Sharp. There are NO windows! Does anyone on this board work there? I don't know if I can work in a unit w/ no windows. I think I'm still leaning towards Mission Hospital. I got a great vibe when interviewing there. Se...

I've gotten some great advice so thank you to everyone. I'm leaning more towards working at Stanford at this point. Anyone know what it's like in Foster City? The commute doesn't look too bad, even though I'd be going on the 101. The apartments t...
  12. SF Bay area ICU questions

Hi everyone, Considering working in SF and have a bunch of questions. Maybe w/ all the wonderful CA nurses here I can get some of them answered. 1. Would Stanford or Kaiser be better to work at? I'm assuming UCSF is a bit of a commute from the South ...
  13. Where to live in SF

  15. How would you view me?

People that have viewed previous posts of mine have seen that I will be going to the UK in the Fall (under my husband's work permit). I received my NMC pin and will start an ONP. And YES.........it was a ridiculous amount of work to get the pin. I...
  16. How much does it really help

I am aware that CRNA school is very difficult. I have a few questions though. Lets say you have 2 students. One is a 5 year ICU nurse w/ CCRN, who has assisted (from the nursing side) in multiple intubations, codes, and has extensive practice start...
  17. How much does it really help

No. I'm not a PACU nurse. I work in a Surgical ICU. I just know of a PACU nurse that got accepted to USCs program and thought it was strange since she can't start an IV and doesn't have good hemodynamic experience.
  18. How much does it really help

I was just seeing that 2 of the 3 schools I was looking at accepted people from PACU. I'm wondering if they would have enough experience to do well in a program w/out all the *stuff* you learn by being 'in the trenches'.
  19. Kaiser question

  22. UK educational requirements?

If I have an Associates Degree what does it mean to make up hours? I'd hate to pay the fees and take the English test and all just to be rejected for not having the 3 year degree. Is there an equivalency program (like an RN to BSN) I could undertake...
  23. I got out of nursing and I've never been better!

I am sorry to hear you are unhappy being nurses. I have a few questions. What areas of nursing do you work in? Are you floor nurses? It has been my experience that floor nurses are the most overworked of the bunch. Do you work for a hospital tha...
