    Hand Reactions with Gloves~~~Need ideas

He could see a dermatologist for environmental allergy screening - testing can be done not just for latex, but for a host of other dermal irritants.... i had the same thing happen - I am not allergic to latex at all - and it was not the gloves, For me it is actually particular alcohols - Purell, some scrubs... I can now survive using Avagard and handwashing alone - no Purell or other scrub options. Good luck to him!
  4. Just moved back to the city and really seeking information on OR's - what they are like, work environment, professionalism of nurses there, etc.... - I would so appreciate hearing from anyone working in Manhattan - thanks!!!!!

Seeking info about NYC OR's - really need advice!

Thank you! I came from upstate - so I may be spoiled with by the ambiance - I am just a bit disappointed by initial visual: dirty lounge, no lockers available for new employees, someone sleeping in a chair, it just felt unprofessional - but it is NYP Columbia - It has to be better than it seems...
  7. Hi - Desperately trying to find out info about the OR"s in the city - I just moved back to the city for a position and, unfortunately, feel I need to quickly look for a new one!!! I live in Manhattan and would love to hear any info / opinions about the dept. heads, staff, environment, lounge/locker rooms, etc... Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!

    Seeking info on NYC OR'S...

Hi! Seeking info on NYC OR"S - all boroughs - mainly major centers... Going to NYP/Cornell open house for the OR- but would love to hear inside information - Finally trying to moving back to the city!
  9. Thanks for the thoughts - especially using Hibiclens alone - it will be the best way to find out if it is the CHG.... then I can take it from the thre - meanwhile - still searching! all the best!
  10. Hello - I am fairly new to the OR and have been struggling with moderate to severe contact dermatitis to surgical scrubbing. I had a RAST test and am not latex allergic. I have tried to do trials between alcohol only - and to just CHG formulas, both traditional and waterless. I keep getting the rash and having been having to keep in under control with Protopic RX. (i do have eczema history...) I am hoping someone may have found some surgical scrub options that worked for them - thanks for any advice!!! I definitely do not want to be forced to end my new career!
  11. Hello! I would love to hear any advice and/ or actual experience with the Rn to BR programs at Stony Brook & Empire College. I really want a SUNY program - and don't really know if these are respected and accepted programs across the country and with all nursing organizations. Thank you!!!!!!

Seeking inside info on NYC OR's...

Hello! I am planning on trying to move back to the city from upstate - and am seeking info on OR's in Manhattan, or suburbs... I would love to hear about great teams - and negative ones too! I am a fairly new nurse with under one year OR experience - i would love to end up in a great organization. Thank you!!!
  13. Hello! I have my A.S.N. and am looking for some B.S. or B.S.N. options. Currently I live in Albany - but want to move to NYC again.... There are not many options here - and trying to get accepted in a NYC program is hard until I actually know when I am moving I am wondering if NYC hospitals value an Excelsior degree - or is it better to try to matriculate somewhere else.... Also - I have heard getting a Bachelor in Science instead of Nursing may be a good option - any thoughts on this! Thank you!!! I really need to get going since it seems I have to be working on my bachelors' in order to be considered at a lot of the NYC hospitals I am interested in..
