  1. Hi friends, I haven't been here in a while and I apologize. This is a great site and I have missed you. For quick reference, I am a Labor and Delivery RNC with 7 years of experience as a nurse, 5 of which have specifically been in L&D. I have don...
  2. Unprofessional doctor

That's what I thought, too, regarding the insecurity. As far as I know, Dr.G's attendings have a hard time dealing with her and, according to my unit mgr, she's had to be spoken to about these unprofessionalism issues before.
  3. Unprofessional doctor

Hi everyone, I am looking for thoughts and perspectives about a situation so that I can take the next step in dealing with it. I work with a doctor who has been rude to me and others for about the last month. I tried not to take her rudeness persona...
  4. Unprofessional doctor

Thank you! I love precepting. Students are cool. Dr. G is not worth my stress, which is why I have been ignoring much of her insolence. It was when she yelled at me in front of others that I knew I couldn't ignore it any longer. She is intent on rui...
  5. Unprofessional doctor

Thank you so very much! It was hard to keep my cool--I have enough feisty Irish blood in my veins that I have to watch my responses to people. I absolutely agree with you in that she is creating a hostile working environment.
  6. Unprofessional doctor

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!!!! This is AWESOME!!!!!!! You gave me the laugh I needed! I am ROLLING ON THE FLOOR!!!!!!
  7. Unprofessional doctor

Wow, these are all great replies and have helped me a lot! Yes, I agree with not friending doctors on FB anymore...completely agree. I quit adding them as friends a couple of months ago, no matter how much I like them. I am going to have a chat with ...
  8. Unprofessional doctor

We are FB friends because up until recently, we got along great. I think you are right about needing to delete her. I've been thinking about doing that. As far as venting goes, she vents everytime she works the floor. It's funny that you mentioned do...
  9. Unprofessional doctor

    Thank you, also, SkiMama! :)
  10. Unprofessional doctor

I have thought about that approach. Thank you for your kind words!
  11. Hi friends! Would you think it was weird if your unit manager asked you if you wanted to reduced your pointage from a 0.9 FTE to a 0.75 FTE? She asked me that yesterday. She played Spin Doctor and said that it is something to consider since I have ha...
  12. Asked to reduce pointage...weird

Thank you for posting this! What you said was almost exactly what I said to her! :) Thank you for your sentiment on loyalty--I agree with you.
  13. Asked to reduce pointage...weird

Hi Snuggles--thanks for providing clarification on FMLA usage! I certainly understand that a staffing issue is created when people call in FMLA 1 hour before a shift starts (I call in no less than 2 hrs before) but sometimes issues arise that weren'...
  14. Asked to reduce pointage...weird

I don't anticipate any long-term usage of the FMLA. There is, however, a possibility that my husband will have to have spinal surgery, so it's hard to say. He had surgery on his arm on 8/30...I took the week off after his surgery and have needed to t...
  15. Asked to reduce pointage...weird

Thank you for your thoughts, llg.
  16. Asked to reduce pointage...weird

Our floor has mandatory call, so they are probably having to call in the call-person every now and then when I use an FMLA day. I use 2, maybe 3, FMLA days per month and have only needed to use these days since the end of August.
  17. Asked to reduce pointage...weird

My hospital is pretty cool in the way that one still gets benefits at 0.75 FTE. My dream is to reduce my hours someday. I just can't afford it yet.
  18. Hi Everyone, I really need some advice. My supervisor has lately been ignoring my schedule requests and giving me strange schedules and I think she is trying to "weed me out." I don't know--maybe I'm just being overly-sensitive and paranoid. Two we...
  19. Is my supervisor trying to get me to quit?

    Thank you, OgopogoLPN!!!
  20. Is my supervisor trying to get me to quit?

You give the BEST advice, Evalynn. I like you.
  21. Is my supervisor trying to get me to quit?

Thanks, J. I appreciate your thoughts. You are right...I do have issues to work on... I am actually working on issues in my life with a professional. I am under an enormous amount of stress outside of work as well with my special-needs teenage daught...
  22. Is my supervisor trying to get me to quit?

1919, I don't think she thinks that because every week we work at least two days together. I will ask her when I talk to her tomorrow, though. Yes, I am frustrated. I feel cornered, trapped, etc. I didn't mean to be snippy...some people attacked me ...
  23. Is my supervisor trying to get me to quit?

Thank you, Evalynn. Great advice. You are so spot-on with a lot of the things you said. Unfortunately, word has already gotten out that I have been looking for a new job...some people know. It stinks that I feel like I have to look for other employme...
  24. Is my supervisor trying to get me to quit?

Also--according to our unit's "rules," I was supposed to be off this Thanksgiving because I worked Thanksgiving last year. So I wasn't "due" to work Thanksgiving this year. I was "due" to be OFF.
  25. Is my supervisor trying to get me to quit?

1919--again, as I said in several of my replies in this post, I DID talk to the nurse in question and I DIDN'T ask to be scheduled different days than the ones she works. Sheesh!!! When we work, we put 2 nurses in OR/PACU and 2 nurses in Triage. I ju...
