I work at a Retirement home and such as an RN. Love the job. But we have nosy co workers. I trust only a few people. So last week I bought a brand new car with all my hard earned money and pandemic pay. I told maybe 3 or 4 people about it. I am 22 ...

  7. What made you go into Nursing?

I am 22 and have been a Nurse for 11 months. Been proud, my parents pushed to get into healthcare since I was in Grade 6. I never realized how valuable Nurses were until I got to school and saw all the good they do. I remember telling myself when I w...
  8. How to deal with Nosy Co-Workers?

Thanks. While I do think there is some truth-ness to what you said, I don't want to be the "Personal information Police" at work. Sometimes we do share things at work, and it should be safe to do so, but I do see what you're saying.
  9. How to deal with Nosy Co-Workers?

Yup. Wish I did that before! Yup and also a lack of education. I personally want to get a long with all my staff, but getting personal is too much. I don't mind revealing certain things, but I try my best to keep it discreet.
  10. How to deal with Nosy Co-Workers?

My main problem is with those people, and the fact that they feel entitled that they should know everything about you. My favorite co-workers are the ones who never talk, or open their mouth and just work. This is a professional workplace, personal ...
  11. How to deal with staff who don't like you?

I am a New Nurse, so I am casual when I pick up shifts at the Retirement Home. So far I feel like I am bullied because the Support workers when they give me advice they have some sort of attitude in their tone. When I start the shift to count the na...

  14. How to not be discouraged when you've missed something or done something wrong as a New Nurse?

That is precisely what I was saying. The little things will come back to bite you!
  15. How to not be discouraged when you've missed something or done something wrong as a New Nurse?

Have no idea. Like I already documented that it was from the blood tech and not our staff. I guess its to just monitor so that if it gets worse there is supplementary documentation?
  16. How to not be discouraged when you've missed something or done something wrong as a New Nurse?

I guess the policies saying that because its a bruise it needs to be documented.
  17. Where do you stand on opening things up during the Pandemic?

I live in Ontario Canada and we have already slowly started to open things up. Mostly essential stores or curbside pick up. It's a long weekend for us and everyone is planning to go to their cottage while our Medical officer is not encouraging them t...

  19. I am 22 and I used to be the infection control Nurse at our Hospital, but now since Covid 19 has engulfed everything, I am put on the front lines. I am just saying that I never had a girlfriend before, and now since the virus is out and about, will ...
  20. Will it be hard for me to get a Girlfriend during this Pandemic since I am dealing with sick people?

Thanks. The answer I was looking for!!
  21. Will it be hard for me to get a Girlfriend during this Pandemic since I am dealing with sick people?

I work at a Community Hospital, and specifically in my Unit we have 23 cases. I am just worried now that everyone will be careful what they touch or who they talk too, that if I try to talk to a girl and we get into a conversation and find out about ...
  22. How to deal with hate as a Nurse since we are getting special treatment during this time?

Yes. If they want to be employed they should find a job that is essential. I took up Nursing, and one of the reasons was job security, and I know not one day in this country till I retire will I ever be unemployed.
  23. How to deal with hate as a Nurse since we are getting special treatment during this time?

Thank you for the work you do!
  24. How to deal with hate as a Nurse since we are getting special treatment during this time?

That is good. People around me just seem to think I am "lucky" to have a job. It's not my fault they are unemployed.
  25. How to deal with hate as a Nurse since we are getting special treatment during this time?

You are right! I think maybe I should mind my own business and all. But it does bother me. I have been a Nurse for almost a year but been in school with it since 2016, so that's 4 years of Nursing, and while it may seem little to them, being a Nurse ...
