Thank you so much, everyone. I'm glad my feelings are valid. I will let it go, and move forward with the right mindset. 🙂

    No Time for Appointments

Hi, I'm making this thread because I've been having so many mental health issues lately. I work full time in a doctor's office, which I love. But right now I've been needing 1-2 days off a week just for therapy appointments, assessments, and so...

    No Time for Appointments

I actually ended up giving my two weeks for my Monday-Friday job (This is my last week), and my per diem job offered me 7pm-7am full time! Plus a huge raise to boot. I'm already so much happier! I've already started picking up too, before...

Does being addressed as "Nurse" annoy anyone?

I've always loved hearing that I'm "the nurse". It can be a little bothersome at times, but most of the time it warms my heart. I can see why it'd make someone uncomfortable or annoyed, though.

Help on being a better floor nurse

Thank you Davey. I'm going to ask my manager that I need help learning some things when I start back up.
  6. I'm going back to LTC, and I feel like I struggled with a lot of basic nursing things that I should know, being a nurse for three years now. I know how to pass meds, take vitals etc...but I still struggle with things such as lab values, knowing when ...

    Guilt About A Med Error

Katie, you made a tiny medication error. Your error did not cause him to pass away. Unless he was deathly allergic to them, there's no way your error could have caused it. Both meds you gave take a few weeks to start "working" in the body, as they ar...

    A Night-shifter's Guide to a Good Day's Sleep

Thank you! I'll be going back to my overnight job in a few weeks, and this showed up at the perfect time.
  9. Beautiful answer, Beth. OP, is there a way you could shadow for a day as the ADON? To see what it's like? This might help your decision.
  10. Hi. I've been at my per diem nursing home job for almost 3 years now. I haven't gotten a raise, and the working conditions are constantly getting worse. I've reached my breaking point, with the constant begging to come in and disrespect of my ti...

    Quitting First Nursing Job

Thank you so much. I put the resignation in that day after work. I feel much more free and lighter than I did.
  12. I don't have anything to add, but most HR departments will have your pay stub information, even if they need to email it to you or something. I wish you luck in this hard situation.

LPN failed out of RN program 2x, advice?

Thank you so much, Nurse Beth. I'm gonna take another shot after awhile, when I feel ready. 😊 It's hard to accept where you are in life, but I guess that's simply a life lesson!

Starting A Career In My 50's: CNA or LPN?

That sounds like a great route! I was a CNA for 7 months in LPN school and it helped me SO much, learning to take care of people and talk to them. Good luck!! You'll do great!

Starting A Career In My 50's: CNA or LPN?

definitely go for LPN, especially if it's free. You'll get to where you want to be sooner. LPN pay rates are going up and are significantly higher than CNA, and it's a very fulfilling job. Also many types of jobs you can get, compared to CNA. L...

    Tips for a new triager

Thank you for your response! I can imagine a lot of these techniques take time to grow. I haven't started yet, sadly. I should be in the next week or two!

    Tips for a new triager

I just got my first telephone triage job! We have books to aid in my triaging, but otherwise it's almost brand new to me. Is there anything I should know about being a telephone triager? At this facility, MAs have been doing it, and I will be the fir...

    LPN Pay?

Yeah exactly! That's why I wanna try it 🙂 I love LTC/SNF, but I want something less hands on.

    LPN Pay?

I work in a nursing home per diem at $34/hr, and I start my new job in a family practice doctor's office soon at $22/hr, that is with my almost 3 years of experience. (She put me in at 4 years, though). I'm in Massachusetts.
  21. I'm sure a few of you know who I am, but I went back to complete my RN after failing the third semester. Well, today I just failed my final in the last semester and I'm out of the school completely. All I'm leaving with is an Associates in Science, n...

    Accused of Diverting Narcotics

I don't have anything to say to help, but I sincerely hope you get through this okay. What a crummy situation....keep us updated.
  23. Thank you so much, everyone for your feedback. I know a lot of it was my own downfalls. I have a referral from my psychiatrist to be evaluated by a psychologist for a possible learning disability. I also think a new, more fair school would be helpful...

    Figs or Jaanuu?

I'm looking to get a new pair of scrubs, and maybe a new pair of Brooks shoes before starting a new job as an LPN. What do you guys think are best? I'm leaning towards Figs because of the fabric, I really like rayon fabric and Figs has more of t...

    Figs or Jaanuu?

Honestly I was leaning towards Figs! Luckily I have a slit-fit body type as well. I'm only gonna start with one pair of scrubs, so price isn't a huge deal. 🙂 Thank you!
