Wheelchair bound student with brittle bones. Most classes will be upstairs. Day to day, student uses the elevator. However, does anyone have suggestions on evac plans and/or evac aids to use in the event of emergency?

Update: Our local Fire Chief recommends shelter in place in a safe zone, which for us would be stairwells. However, our Special Ed dept is looking into a stair chair with the agreement that if we have a stair chair, it will be used during every fire ...

Already have a call in to FD, waiting for call back. Parents have said "if it's a real fire, can someone just pick her up?" (If it's real, we'll get her out or die trying). I'm very concerned about the sleds for that reason. However, in a true emerge...

This is my supply list. I usually order each semester, and update my "quantity needed" as the year goes on. Sometimes, I have an overstock and don't need to order those things; and sometimes I run out before the semester is over. But maybe this will ...

Same here. Due to FERPA & HIPAA laws, I cannot and will not release any information to anyone other than custodial parent without subpoena. And I will consult my district's attorneys every step of the way.

My school's receptionist brought me an excuse which was obviously altered. The parent had used white-out over the dates excused and wrote in different dates. I called the doctor's office, who assured me that they never use white-out on excuses becaus...

My thoughts EXACTLY! We've had ...um....issues with this parent for a while, so I'd rather not kick the hornet's nest. Attendance clerk, Receptionist, & I brought it to administration. They can handle it from here.
This flu season has been insane already. Fingers and toes crossed for an early peak! I have been monitoring flu cases for 4 weeks and have been steadily seeing 10-15 cases a week until now. This week has been CRAZY! Out of 970 kids, we have 98 confir...

I'm blessed to have an administration who recognizes that I am the only licensed person, the only one with medical training/education in the building. My principal has told all staff during emergencies "Heather is the boss right now; do whatever she ...

I'm wondering the same. I know many parents refuse flu shots, but other states have the same issue. We usually peak late January-early March. Looks like we'll have an early peak this year!

Louisiana. And, of course, my city has the highest rate in the state ?♀️ So here I sit with my face mask and cracked, bleeding, raw, dry hands considering how much stock I need in Lysol
How long do you normally have to wait for parents to pick up a sick child? I have several parents who take over an hour to get here every single time I call. I have waited almost 2 hours, and then sent the child home on the bus because we couldn't ge...

@ruby_jane I just reviewed our disease/exclusion policy with a teacher yesterday, who then felt the need to talk to administration, because she wants every kid who vomits to immediately be sent home. Keep in mind that Little Bit yesterday vomited "cl...
