  1. Hello current/past nursing students of the CSU Stanislaus (Stockton Center) ABSN program! I have some questions about the ABSN course schedule because it will be the main dealbreaker when I decide whether to apply at all. The campus is 3 hours away f...
  2. Samuel Merritt ABSN Summer 2020

Please message me too. Thank you so much in advance!
  3. SFSU ABSN Summer 2020

I started a FB group in case anyone wants to wait together: https://www.facebook.com/groups/233574344454190/
  4. SFSU ABSN Summer 2020

@julie. aw haha thank you :3
  5. SFSU ABSN Summer 2020

I would commit to SFSU over Samuel Merritt's June cohort in San Mateo any day. Same city, same start time, and only a smidge longer (15 months instead of 12) at half the price (40k vs 80k...a big difference for me personally. IDK about other people)....
  6. SFSU ABSN Summer 2020

Also, the fact that the clinical sites got cancelled doesn't mean the entire program needs to be cancelled or kept in limbo, which is what SFSU is currently doing. The curriculum is not 100% clinical classes anyway. There are also classes that are cl...
  7. Samuel Merritt ABSN Summer 2020

I'm in the June cohort for San Mateo, too. I have the same concerns.
  8. SFSU ABSN Summer 2020

I think it is completely strange that they are not even sending out admission decisions. Even if the start date needs to be TBD/TBA, they can still tell applicants if they got accepted or rejected. For those of us weighing SFSU against other options,...
  9. SFSU ABSN Summer 2020

@Megumi Sasaki @rt94588 It seems like we are all getting different answers. I emailed the office on March 3rd, and they told me admission decisions will be released mid-April. Someone else said the results come out in May. Which response do you think...
  10. Samuel Merritt ABSN Summer 2020

@klc Thanks for the input! I've been hearing all sorts of things about SMU ABSN's reputation, ranging from very good to absolutely terrible, and the lack of consistency is adding so much to my stress and confidence in the program, which is unfortunat...
  11. Samuel Merritt ABSN Summer 2020

I was about to start a new thread about this question, but thought I might as well ask it here for visibility. Is anyone concerned about the quality of the curriculum? The curriculum does not include pharmacology and pathophysiology because SMU made ...
  12. SFSU BSN Spring 2019

Nevermind, sorry I was confusing this with another program.
  13. SFSU BSN Spring 2019

Isn't the program supposed to start in Summer, not Spring? Or did the speakers at the information session give different details compared to what is on the website?
  14. MSN working bedside nursing

Supposedly, if the claims made by those institutions are to be trusted or taken seriously. (I'm personally a bit skeptical sometimes, because I am pretty disappointed in America's educational system in general, but that's another topic). I was referr...
  15. MSN working bedside nursing

But has anyone asked her directly about it, if she never explained herself voluntarily? I've been searching for various nursing programs, and I realized that depending on the state, it is sometimes more affordable for people who graduate with non-nur...
  16. Hi, I'm new to this forum, so I apologize if I am posting in the wrong place/way. I have little idea what my best options are, and am confused as a result. Disclaimer: I have read many old posts from people in similar situations as me (got a B.S....
  17. Extremely Lost...Graduated with B.S. in Biology but Decided to Pursue Nursing

thank you for telling me about what you heard from HR! That is very important to know.
  18. Extremely Lost...Graduated with B.S. in Biology but Decided to Pursue Nursing

I have, and when I researched the requirements, they said I would need 2-3 years of clinical experience. I thought that I would rather stick with nursing all the way instead of using nursing as a stepping stone to something else.
  19. Extremely Lost...Graduated with B.S. in Biology but Decided to Pursue Nursing

I've thought a lot about those 3-year "direct entry" masters programs that let people with non-nursing bachelors degrees to come out with both a BSN and MSN. I am weighing the pros and cons of spending 3 years on that, vs the ABSN others have said. I...
  20. Extremely Lost...Graduated with B.S. in Biology but Decided to Pursue Nursing

I am interviewing for a couple of admin jobs in a local hospital, so my ideal short-term plan is to build work experience there, while taking care of any remaining pre-reqs that my BS doesn't cover. I was probably a bad idea for me to move away from ...
  21. Extremely Lost...Graduated with B.S. in Biology but Decided to Pursue Nursing

Thank you for sharing your backstory! For your scholarships, were you awarded them based on merit, or was it through FAFSA/gov aid? Also, when is the right time to ask an employer whether they/the hospital is willing to cover the costs of your additi...
  22. Extremely Lost...Graduated with B.S. in Biology but Decided to Pursue Nursing

After discussing my situation with family friends, they are advising me to get the ABSN hopefully using scholarships > start working > after a couple years after everything settles down, do a MSN using employer sponsorship
  23. Extremely Lost...Graduated with B.S. in Biology but Decided to Pursue Nursing

Another question, is there an official recognized organization in the United States that "accredits" nursing programs, i.e. makes an official judgement whether a particular program is legitimate and legally allowed to give out nursing degrees? I am ...
  24. Extremely Lost...Graduated with B.S. in Biology but Decided to Pursue Nursing

I have a question about all nursing degrees in general (anywhere from RN to MSN etc). Is nursing a field that actually cares where you graduated from? Do "good" programs have any influence on the hiring process? I would like to know if it is any diff...
  25. Extremely Lost...Graduated with B.S. in Biology but Decided to Pursue Nursing

I have read about the physician assistant path, and have ruled it out because it requires ~3 years of previous clinical patient care experience at the time of application. I did not think that would be the best way to plan my future because it means ...
