Commute Advice for ABSN at CSU Stanislaus, Stockton Campus

Published

Hello current/past nursing students of the CSU Stanislaus (Stockton Center) ABSN program!

I have some questions about the ABSN course schedule because it will be the main dealbreaker when I decide whether to apply at all.

The campus is 3 hours away from where I live. Although I do not expect to commute back and forth to class every day, I will need to go home to take care of matters every week. This is true no matter what nursing program I attend. Depending on the course schedule, making this 3 hour commute back home on a weekly basis will be either tolerable, or completely unrealistic.

1) Do classes take place all 7 days of the week? If not, how many days of class are there each week? (I understand there may be exceptions here and there depending on exams, but I am looking for a general idea of how a week looks.)

2) Are those classes generally spread out (e.g. Monday, Wednesday, Friday), or clustered together in blocks (e.g. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday).

3) Does everyone in the cohort have the exact same class times/days in their schedule, OR are they given options to pick from, so that they could make a schedule that works best for them?

* I really hope that students have the option of taking classes in blocks (i.e. squeezing all the classes/clinicals into consecutive days). Doing this would make it a lot more feasible for me to actually go home weekly to do what I need to do.

I've searched the application website and old Allnurses forums for this information, but I couldn't find it. If you know the answer, please share ? Thank you so much!

Hi!

This is an older post but I see we’re in the same boat. Did you apply for the asbsn program?
