  1. FIU Accelerated program Spring 2018

For my first bachelor's I graduated with a GPA of like 3.2. But I aced all my prereqs and got a really good TEAS score and got accepted, so take that as you will!
  2. FIU Accelerated Option 2018

Hello everyone! I'm applying to FIU's accelerated BSN program next month and wanted to start a thread for any other interested applications, so that we can share information and keep each other informed. Anyone else hoping to apply?
  3. FIU Accelerated Option 2018

Hello! I can’t speak for everyone in my cohort, but there have been quite a few of us who found work immediately after graduation. For me, I landed a nurse residency at a large regional hospital about two months after graduating. The interview was s...
  4. FIU Accelerated Option 2018

Hello, We're actually graduating tomorrow, which is insane to think about because this whole endeavor has lasted a little more than one year. To answer your questions: Correct, we're assigned our professors and class schedules for each semester. I'...
  5. FIU ABSN 2019

Last year I got an application confirmation on August 25th. That time will vary depending on their internal processes, though.
  6. FIU Accelerated Option 2018

Only people who would know the actual average would be the admissions staff. However, I do know that 85 and up is considered to be a competitive score. Volunteer work and a solid interview can help bolster your chances, though.
  7. FIU ABSN 2019

Our program started during the second week of December if I remember correctly. We had a two week boot camp for Fundamentals during which we practiced clinical skills and procedures in the simulation lab and did self-directed studying for a pass/fail...
  8. FIU ABSN 2019

I applied to UM's ABSN program and Miami-Dade's ASN three semester program. Both accepted me. FIU was my first choice because A) it's a really good school and B) the cost of attendance is $14k versus $40k at UM (OUCH!). Dade was my backup because I w...
  9. FIU ABSN 2019

Questions are good! I'll start from the top. Your TEAS score is excellent and your GPA is pretty good too. For reference, I came out of my first Batchelor's with a 3.11. I scored all As for my prereqs and got a 91.3 on my TEAS. That, plus 75 volunte...
  10. FIU ABSN 2019

Hi there! Very cool to see the next batch of applicants start a conversation. I'm in the current 2018 cohort that's about halfway through the program. Please feel free to ask any questions and I'll be happy to answer to the best of my ability.
  11. FIU Accelerated program Spring 2018

The program starts with a two-week mini term in the Fall for fundamentals, which is meant to prep you with essential skills and knowledge needed for clinicals. Then, in the spring, you take 19 credits split among five lectures and a clinical lab. To ...
  12. FIU Accelerated program Spring 2018

Unfortunately, prominent scholarships are really hard to come by for second bachelor's degrees. Most of my cohort and I are relying on either government student loans (if they didnt use up their lifetime max during their first bachelor's) or private ...
  13. FIU Accelerated program Spring 2018

Hello! We're wrapping up our first semester this week with nine (you heard right) finals lol. So far I can tell you that the program is quite rigorous, and you'll definitely need to get your work-life balance in order if you want to succeed. Don't l...
  14. FIU Accelerated Option 2018

It's definitely a mix. Some people are taking out loans, others are using personal savings, a small group are continuing to work, and still others are financing through the Bank of Mom/Dad. That aspect will be entirely up to you/your bank/ and Uncle ...
  15. FIU Accelerated Option 2018

Hello! We're about three months into the program and so far I can say the courseload is pretty heavy. However, it's very manageable. The content itself is not difficult - there's just a lot to remember. We have some really wonderful faculty that are...
  16. FIU Accelerated Option 2018

Feel free to ask any other questions!
  17. FIU Accelerated Option 2018

Hi Catek! Not LaAura but I can tell you a little bit about our experience so far in the program. The class schedule is quite dense, not so much because of the actual time spent in lecture but because there is so much content to cover. We're on campu...
  18. FIU Accelerated program Spring 2018

Try to show your confidence, and like LaAura said be clear about why you want to be a nurse. Something that helped us calm down about the interviews was that 38 people were invited for 30 slots, so you had an excellent chance of being selected.
  19. FIU Accelerated program Spring 2018

From what I understand you have to order all the packages on Complio, which comes out to roughly $230. That price also includes your fingerprinting and drug testing, both of which you have to go out and do in person. As far as the titers and any boos...
  20. FIU Accelerated program Spring 2018

Hi Alle, The interviews were conducted on Oct 17th and admission letters started going out on the 21st if I remember correctly. If you were at the interview day and haven't heard anything, I'd suggest reaching out to someone at the program to see wh...
  21. FIU Accelerated program Spring 2018

Yup! Seems like a bunch of people got their emails today.
  22. University of Miami Accelerated BSN spring 2018

On the program's webpage it says the class size is roughly 70 per year. From what other people are saying on the forum, they may send out more than 70 acceptances to make up for those who inevitably decline or don't respond to the offer.
  23. University of Miami Accelerated BSN spring 2018

Not sure about your situation specifically, but it's probably worth calling the nursing college and asking!
  24. FIU Accelerated program Spring 2018

Looks like they'll be one-on-one interviews with either a member of the nursing faculty or the administration, according to the email. I believe they say it's going to be a long day because you don't get your interview time until you actually arrive ...
  25. University of Miami Accelerated BSN spring 2018

I've been apartment hunting in Miami quite a few times and can send you a message with some of my thoughts/experiences.
