Problem applying nclex in california

World Registration

Hello, I am an foreign graduate and an rn from Philippines. I migrated here in California last Nov 11 and was planning to take nclex here but when I submit all my requirements they told me that I am not eligible to take the nclex here in Cali. They told me "that they determined that not all aspect of my theory and clinical training meet the requirements in medical surgical and obstetrics. And reflects that some and/or all clinical cases were not completed during the same semester" and they want me to enroll additional course work here in Cali. But, my friend told me i have a second choice to apply nclex in nevada, it is required to take ielts or toefl there even though you are an immigrant already? Hoping for your suggestions and ideas that can help me. Thank you and god bless!

hello!

last 2011, I was denied by cali brn to take the nclex. I then applied in a different state, got my license and now I'm working in a medsurg floor, soon I'll be on my first year of being a medsurg RN. Just curious, will Cali BRN still require me to take medsurg classes like before in 2011 even if I already have experience as a medsurg RN? I remember they want me to take classes and clinicals for medsurg and pedia. Thank you!

Hi, in what state did you apply for exam? Thanks

Hi, im a BSN graduate from the philippines batch 2009. I failed the nclex rn in cali last 2010 and now i am no longer eligible to retake because of the concurrency issue.

I am a us citizen and was never licensed in my country of education, i never worked as a nurse.

Do you think i will be eligible to take nclex rn in oregon and florida? Please help me..thankyou!

Oregon uses CGFNS. I applied for Oregon and the credentials passed through.. i have yet to apply for the board though..

Do you think they would credit and consider hospital experience for nclex application?

Do you think they would credit and consider hospital experience for nclex application?

Nope, they will ALWAYS require full documentation of your college transcripts. There have been others with years of paid RN experience in other countries, they mention 5-10 plus years and there's no credit given or consideration towards the taking the NCLEX. Everyone must meet the CA BRN (or any other states for that matter) minimum educational requirements.

You could try it, of course, but just know that they will not give you back any of the application fees, then you have up to 3 year's to submit a complete application package or it will be considered abandoned.

Has anyone had any luck of finding a school to fulfill these deficiencies? I just need an OB class.

Specializes in Emergency, Tele, Med Surg, DOU, ICU.

If you apply in an ADN program that go by points, you may have luck and get in and finish the 2 years before you even find a program that will offer that one class u need. I have a friend who graduated from overseas and she had the same issue. She applied for a points ADN program and she just finished her 3 rd semester and will be graduating this Dec. Just some option that you may consider. It sucks but at least you are moving forward.

Hi Rahani,

did you finally sort everything out yet?... I am hoping to take the NCLEX in CA as well :sorry:

Specializes in BSN-future USRN.

Hi nativecheese where did you graduate in PH if you don't mind me asking? Coz I believe my school don't have the copy of our cases. Thanks

Hi, I'm a second courser, graduated 2006 in the Philippines, took the NLE and passed. I took the CA NCLEX Aug. 2010 (in Calif.) but failed and reapplied again but my application and fee was returned due to lack of SSN. I am an H4 and now that I already have my SSN and trying to continue to challenge the NCLEX again, there is a hunch in me to look over CA-BON if there are other requirements to be submitted. I came across this "allnurses" page and read all about nursing and to my dismay, all this problems shocked the nerve out of me.:speechless: My problem is, if I apply today would they give me the headaches other is experiencing? Would I start from the beginning again? How about all the requirements that I passed before? I'm confused about this concurrency..Will anybody out there explain or please enlighten me...:arghh:

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

After 3 years of dormancy your application was destroyed. You need to apply for a initial license by examination

Thanks for advising JustBeachyNurse ...now that I know i will be a newbee again in applying, i can't help being disappointed. Do you know other states that don't do this hulabaloo? How about Oregon and Florida?
