Problem applying nclex in california

World Registration

Published

Hello, I am an foreign graduate and an rn from Philippines. I migrated here in California last Nov 11 and was planning to take nclex here but when I submit all my requirements they told me that I am not eligible to take the nclex here in Cali. They told me "that they determined that not all aspect of my theory and clinical training meet the requirements in medical surgical and obstetrics. And reflects that some and/or all clinical cases were not completed during the same semester" and they want me to enroll additional course work here in Cali. But, my friend told me i have a second choice to apply nclex in nevada, it is required to take ielts or toefl there even though you are an immigrant already? Hoping for your suggestions and ideas that can help me. Thank you and god bless!

Does anyone know which universities at this time do their clinicals and theory in the same semester? I do not want any concurrency issues with the Ca BON. I read trinity university of asia is one,I am planning to attend a school this coming June. thank you

I don't know of any off-hand, but how accurate is the information you read about Trinity Uni of Asia?

I would inquire harder into talking to or better yet, face-to-face interview with a staffer there that actually handles all the transcripts and delivery of them: ASK if they have successfully had zero problems with getting any of their 2012 grads to pass the CA BON requirements, ASK to speak with a few 2012 successful students who have been granted the ATT in CA.

You don't need to speak with anyone with 2011 and prior years, it's the more up to date information you need before you take the leap of faith with Trinity or any of the possible schools you may consider or have read about.

It's going to be your total responsibility if you don't do your homework and research now so that come a few years down the road and you don't find it's been all for nothing. Yes, granted this "concurrency thing" is kind of new (Nov. 2011), but it's not been new at all with the CHED (known for years of this possibility happening and has now blown up). Good luck!

hi guys, did anyone applied for lvn recently?

hi guys, did anyone applied for lvn recently?

there are lots of applicants for the LVN exam. However, in my case, I applied early 2012 so I was able to sit for the exam that fast compared to the present situation, cause BVNPT's processing a lot of applications so there's a massive delay (include those who are denied by BRN). Did you apply yet?

hey! just saw this site. I applied in Ca last 2011, waited for 9 months for my ATT and was DENIED.

While I was in Cali, I met another filipino who graduated from Philippines, got his ATT and passed NCLEX with flying colors.

As for me, I was so frustrated when I was declined to take the exam. California has always been my dream state. It's just my own mentality that it feels like I'm not so far away from the Philippines.

anyway, I re-applied in FL and got my license. Now I am in VA (applied for reciprocity with no problems). I'm now working as a medsurg RN. Is there any chance I can apply again in cali and work there? Or will they ask me to study again?

Thanks guys!

California BRN would still put up the concurrency issue even though you just want to apply to get a license thru endorsement. I see lots of Philippine grads (licensed in other states) who weren't able to get a license thru endorsement. Even if you weren't denied thru application by examination, still it's tough to get a CA license. If you want, you can try applying but there's no assurance that you'll get your RN license in CA. (based on growing numbers of applicants who were denied)

Congrats on your RN license and to your decision to apply/work in other states :) Maybe some other time, like after 5 years, maybe California will open once again to a lot of nurses. Right now, the competition for a nursing job here in CA is like a SURVIVOR game. It's really tough.

Hi Tarapm,

Congratulations for passing the NCLEX-RN exam in Florida. :) I'm from California and also applied for Florida and now the only thing that i need to do is the fingerprints. Were you also in California when you applied for FL BON? May i know what did you do to get the fingerprints since we're out of state applicant?

I sent them my fingerprint cards and they sent it back to me because what they need is "electronic fingerprints".

Please lemme know how did you get your fingerprints.

Thanks!

Mine took 5-6 months to get my eligibility.

Hi dragon lady,

How long did you wait to be eligible after you send your Declaration form?

Thanks!

I've waited 3 months after I send my declaration form.

What if I graduated this 2012 in the PI and I have license in the Philippines. Would I be eligible to take NCLEX here in CA? Thank you.

It depends on the BON and whether or not you meet the requirements. The only way to find out is to apply.

Good luck.

Thank you, Dragon LAdy.

Do you have any idea on how to apply for fingerprints electronically for those who are out of state applicant that is planning to apply in FL BON or in other state? Because i tried to have my fingerprints electronically but the vendor told me that they don't send fingerprints to state by state.

FL did not require me fingerprinting. That's only a requirement for Ca last year.
