President Biden thread

Published

Wow.  No one has started such a thread yet?

After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days,  apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.

Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week,  by the end of April.

Nice story....ignoring what is happening AGAIN before our eyes --dismanteling of our democratic norms and purge of those in the know about Trumps classified documents exploits.

Fully understand the pardon's Biden gave to Milley, Hunter and his family along with the January 6th committee.  He did the RIGHT THING foresaw Trumps vengance.

Inflation here we come!!  Expect $10.00 eggs by end of month.

Trump Tariffs Begin

White House officials said Saturday that President Trump has signed an executive order imposing 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico and raising tariffs on Chinese goods by 10%. The U.S. set a 10% tariff on Canadian energy, with the lower rate an implicit acknowledgement that tariffs can lead to higher prices.

The tariffs are set to begin on Tuesday, the New York Times reported, citing White House sources.

The tariffs — and potential retaliation — could cause significant economic disruptions, with North American supply chains closely linked.

Imagine what motivates trying to keep Biden in the spotlight with the wildly unusual alarming behavior of the current administration. LOL

You're correct.  This is exactly what Trump voters wanted.

Nice deflection to Trump to avoid the subject.

But the story Beerman posted is old news and I'll avoid the subject too,  Nothing earth shattering there that we haven't discussed.  I'm not going to comment on an old tired subject of an ex-President.

It's easier for Trump voters to muse over some old reporting on Biden rather than to talk about them getting everything they wanted in the election. It looks like @Beerman is putting some effort into talking about anything other than his political agenda fleshing out in real time. Project 2025 is impressive in the roll out phase but he wants to dwell in the past.  It's interesting.  And funny.

LOL

A little scolding from you is very much worth the mention.

It's a new story going on I suppose.  And if reporters that were close to the President and thought that he had mental issues they should have reported.  Also I think there was cover up by politicians close to him at the time.  Again, talking about an ex-President that was kicked out of the running and whose party lost the election is not something I'm interested in.

@beerman can speak for himself, but perhaps other than not approving of the mass pardons, he is on board with the Trump agenda so doesn't feel the need to discuss every topic we bring up here.  That he'd rather talk about Biden is his business and this is the Biden thread, we shouldn't deflect to Trump.

Nice article about the many "journalists" who worked so hard to cover up what we could all (well most of us) see very clearly. Perhaps if the Biden admin (who ever that was) didn't have so many destructive policies that affected us (the USA), and especially his last minute/out the door orders, the new administration wouldn't be so busy cleaning up the mess. There is no way that this mess will be cleaned up anytime soon but at least they are trying and that is what the majority of Americans want.

A good deal of Americans voted for him to lower grocery prices and inflation but like you said that isn't going to happen anytime soon.  But Trump says Americans will be understanding in the meantime.

I don't understand this at all. An investigation should be done so we the people have an account of what actually happened. A preemptive pardon before any investigation or charges sounds pretty fishy IMO

Well what we had with Biden wasn't working so hopefully this will be a little pain in the beginning for much better later. I don't see how it could be anything but this after the flow of "free" money being spent by the last admin.

I know how much people here hate to discuss old news about ex-presidents.  While Biden was in office, I almost forgot Trump ever was.

Yes, Biden's cognitive decline is old news for some of us.  Not as old news for others.  Same with the cover up, which really hasn't been discussed and I don't expect it to be.  It's not even acknowledged by many here.

Yep, many people are buying into the idea that his promise to lower prices isn't happening and the long term goals is important.  Good on Trump for quickly bringing his followers into line there.

I understand that spending is an issue with conservatives and always has been, so disapproval of Biden's spending and its affect on inflation is noted.  Trump spent a lot his 1st administration too and cut revenue but the deficit didn't seem to bother the now defunct Tea Party then.

Covid makes it a bit difficult to judge both presidents.

Trump is moving quickly to cut spending but also is spending more on the military and the border situation, but it's only been a few weeks.  While I may not like what gets cut, I understand we need to eliminate waste and cut spending.  I don't approve of any ideas of tax cuts floating around at times like these.

However, it should also be noted that inflation was cooling the last year under Biden. It was 2.9% in December.  Not exactly 2% which is the goal but it should be acknowledged that things were working under Biden and inflation was dropping.  Problem was the damage of high inflation was done and on people's minds.
