President Biden thread

I was working at wasn't able to watch it, but watched some of it with a patient on Fox News who said "he's actually not doing too bad for someone not looking at a teleprompter."  This from a Fox News viewer.  He wasn't looking at notes but speaking patriotically and coherently, so neither of us expressed concerns of his mental decline.

The snub of Fox was notable but really why should he talk to a hostile news network with "binders of questions".    I do think that with Fox being a major player in the media, even though they don't consider themselves media or "mainstream media" since they are always criticizing the media, he should have taken on a question from them.

I don't think he was pandered to by the reporters but treated professionally, as he treated them in return.  It wasn't a crap show with "you're fake news", "you're nasty", "what a stupid stupid questions".  

Press conferences aren't supposed to be a shyte show but an interview and presentation of ideas.  I think he did okay.  

It was notable to me for being Presidential and professional and granted I didn't see it all.   

Yes, there are things to criticize.

Seems to be that reporters didn't let him off the hook and steered the press conference to the border and did he deflect with an "ask Harris".

I know with Pence as VP, the bar is set pretty low, but VP's are often tasked with difficult issues.  Biden as VP tackled Iraq n the roll out of the stimulus package, federal spending to avoid a shut down for example.

The lead story, on Fox making the headlines is that he used cheat sheets.  They are digging for things that show dementia and fatigue.  Personally I don't think fatigue is a sign of decline.  Obama and Trump sometimes looked fatigued.  To me it might be a sign of hard work.  Having all that weight on your shoulders certainly might make for some long days and some sleepless nights.

I also don't think that using notes and teleprompters are a sign of anything other than being organized and wanting to collect your thoughts.  There's a lot going on and I can appreciate one needs to be prepared.  He wasn't reading from his notes, looked the reporters and cameras in the eyes and didn't ramble or babble.

Notes?  I wouldn't expect less from a President at a press conference.  Accuracy in reporting the facts is a desirable quality.  Beerman keeps prodding us with donkey manure and we keep responding:(  But they make it so EASY with illogical ramblings and no ideas.

I'm afraid that we will do as we always have, FORGET and Sugar Coat the last four years and that Insurrection occurred! 

We bombed Japan and killed hundreds of thousands people cumulatively. We have essentially forgotten that! American Indians, Japanese Americans, Tuskegee, Iraq wars, Vietnam, Guantanamo, Black Ops, Iran Contra, Union Carbide, Dupont...... and so many others. We always spin and we always forget. 

Now they are deflecting away from the most horrific President in our history who could have destroyed us all because of greed and nihilism! And, we are allowing the republicans to deflect again by refocusing our gaze to someone who has just stepped into office and has probably inoculated a third of the population in the briefest of periods, when the previous jackass had over a year and while secretly taking measures to protect himself is telling his supporters to go ffff themselves! 

Now we have Sidney Powell with the worst defense in history 'I didn't mean what I said, No intelligent person would have taken me seriously' and the deflection and spinning continues! Just watch they will all decide to use it. Telling their viewers and supporters that they are morons and idiots to believe them and since republican supporters ACTUALLY ARE IDIOTS will take the insults with joy and double their support! 

And liberals allow this to happen every time!

I don't think that liberals are allowing this to happen but that Republicans are using their power and majority where they can.  It's not that liberals are quietly sitting back, surrendering and not trying.  Georgia representative Park Cannon was removed by police while they were signing their voting laws into effect.

While I'm encouraged by the election of the so-called "squad", I am discouraged that Democrats, especially in the south and here in Florida can't organize themselves to win elections.  

I've had many discussions with best friend, who is an English professor about what Heron above mentioned that we are dumbed down and people are easily swayed by what they perceive as threats to their way of life and elect lunatic politicians like Matt Gaetz here in Florida or the extremist crazy woman Marjorie Taylor Greene.  A large contingent of people have lost the ability to critically think and it shows in who wins elections.

About what is happening in Tennessee with the bill to dismantle the Tennessee historical committee because they voted to remove the bust of a murderous civil war General and their anti-LGBT stance my brother summed it up well

" Republicans do nothing for health care, nothing for climate change, nothing for gun violence, nothing for voter rights, nothing for lgbqt, nothing for social justice, nothing for Covid relief, nothing for working class families."  Granted "nothing" might be an exaggeration, but you don't see them taking leadership in these issues either.

These are the important issues of the day in my opinion.  These shouldn't even be liberal vs. conservative issues but issues of importance to all of us.  
 

But what is important to Tennessee is book banning.

Absolutely! 

I totally believe in Evolution in every way. Most people evolve as they grow older and acquire more experience and education increasing their intelligence and how they solve their problems. Most republicans lately doesn't seem to evolve but go in the other direction. 

As you stated they don't address real issues or even take the lead but their core supporters who are almost always affected by their ineptitude, actually doubles down and instead of changing their message or goals, actively seek the illegal solutions. IMO this is only done because they don't fear the consequences because liberals are feeble minded and weak! 

Let a liberal do even the slightest wrong, example that woman at the teenage magazine who made some negative comments when she was a teenager and they canceled her appointment. That's hypocrisy of the highest magnitude. Who hasn't said and done stupid things as a teenager? Republicans on the other hand will actually band together even stronger in an instance like this and strike back! 

That's what I mean by liberals being weak and feeble minded! This woke *** has to stop! It should be rebranded as stupidity of the highest order! They keep throwing out the baby with the bath water! 

We are not the enemy. We act like Communists with a hive mind but not for our own good, only for our mutual destruction! They ostracize strong liberals and when they pay the price with HR1 not passing or Roe v Wade being canceled, they cry like p*****s for something of their own making!

I agree, and can even agree that the dismissal of Al Franken was unjust.  He found himself at the wrong place at the wrong time.  Liberals can't be all self-righteous about sexual harassment without holding their own accountable, so it's a double edged sword.  Republicans are waiting in the wings to see how we react to things we criticize them about when it's our side doing it.   We criticized the heck out of Kavannaugh for what he allegedly did in his youth, and the Alabama governor for doing blackface in her youth.  We can't have it both ways.

What this means is that Democrats and liberals are victims of the same system that has caused our society to lose the ability to critically think.  Extremists on the left are just as ignorant and Democrat politicians are just as guilty in pandering to them.

That said, we do need to be mindful of the concerns of those people that are being marginalized but the "we are too politically correct" and "everyone is offended by everything",  "grow some thicker skin" folks and stop and listen rather than dismiss.  

Trump rips into Biden, saying Biden is causing death and destruction, and that he was handed the most secure border in American History....the best border...the greatest border...no other president has done what he has done.

He's going to take advantage of the situation to further slam Biden because so many people want him to visit the border.  

Really though who can blame him, the border was one of his main campaign issues, and it's a great opportunity for him to continue to excite his base and have a great photo opportunity to present to his adoring public who thinks he won the election.
