President Biden thread

Published

Wow.  No one has started such a thread yet?

After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days,  apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.

Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week,  by the end of April.

None of that media you mentioned is liberal...Tim Pool isn't a liberal.

I haven't listened to Glenn Beck in years, has he gone further into the weeds?

I think he is worst  because if his reluctance  to condemn violence.    I give him credit for overcoming his addictions but think that he remains a dry drunk with many traits of stinking thinking still present.  His love affair with conspiracy theories has become his substitute addiction.

Another Biden lie.  Or, perhaps he's confused.

This one made the sports pages.

It’s not a lie if you can blame it on a make believe stuttering problem.

Who says violence is suppose to be peaceful?

Conspiracy thinking and theories are prevalent in conservatives groups today.  Some Republican politicians promote or elevate them from time to time. It's very dangerous.

DANA MILBANK: Yeah. It's really ominous, Terry. This is a dangerous time, and I am fearful for the country right now. It's even a step worse when you look at the pro-Trump social media channels. They're saying things like tomorrow is war. They will cry out in pain. When does the shooting start? And you have Fox News echoing these themes of police state and tyranny and regime and third-world authoritarianism. This has ominous reverberations from - as I've written in the book, going back a quarter century in this case. This is very similar to the rhetoric we heard leading up to the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995 on conservative talk radio from members of Congress talking about the government coming to get them with tyranny, imposing a new world order, a revolution, black helicopters - very, very similar rhetoric.

While liberals aren't immune from believing wild speculation or even conspiracy theories, the embrace of conspiracy theories by conservatives is clearly more of a problem for our society at this time. From Qanon to pizza shop pedophiles some of the most dangerous conspiracy theories and thinking that has been acted upon by believers is decidedly political and divisive in nature.  The intention is to create discord and animus within the USA.

“Their profits are a windfall of war, the windfall from the brutal conflict that’s ravaging Ukraine and hurting tens of millions of people around the globe,” Biden said from the White House.

He reiterated his call for the oil industry to use the surging profits to increase its oil production and refining capacity, and said it was time they looked beyond “the narrow self-interest” of their executives and shareholders.

“If they don’t they are going to pay a higher tax on their excess profits and face other restrictions,” he said. “It’s time for these companies to stop war profiteering, meet their responsibility to this country, give the American people a break and still do very well.”

Oil majors Exxon Mobil, Chevron and Shell Oil alone reported quarterly profits last week totaling about $40 billion.

Who will push against that concept?

The Republicans will never acknowledge this speech.  They will concentrate on elementary school children being exposed to Media, Paul Pelosi's secret love affair with his attacker and abortions at "right before delivery at 39 weeks."  I'm still trying to figure out how they think it physically happens.  Do we kill the baby before it is delivered or do we wait and do it afterwards?

Why does this administration complain they want to abolish fossil fuels to begin with.

Exactly.

And, he knows there is no possibility to raise taxes on the oil companies at this point.  Even many Democrats are against that.

Others called for him to do it awhile ago, which he easier would have been to able to do at that time

This is just a futile attempt at damage control before midterms.

Republicans have protected those businesses in the past and they will protect them today, even if that hurts Americans.

So what?  Even if it’s true that’s what liberals want.  They stated high prices will force Americans into electric vehicles.  Joe Biden said he wanted to get rid of fossil fuels.  He ran on it and not one Democrat pushed back on it.
