Wow. No one has started such a thread yet?
After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days, apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.
Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week, by the end of April.

There has been been evidence of Biden's stutter all through his public speaking life, maybe you didn't notice before he became the focus of partisan animosity.
It's safe to say that Biden has been a poor speaker for at least the past 30 years since I used to comment on his elocution that far back. But I have never doubted his institutional knowledge and ability to negotiate.

Could you direct me to this evidence that you speak of?
You can find it. Biden has been a public figure for decades and there's lot's of video and audio evidence of his speech patterns. He spoke about his stutter in television interviews during the Obama presidency. NPR published an article about Biden's stutter in the run up to the 2008 election.

No question that the old guy has an affable and casual speaking style but he is decidedly not a good orator...just competent.

That is hardly a article about his stutter. The only mention of his stutter is the headline, and this sentence: "He started life as a stuttering child in Scranton, Pa."
And, we know he's fabricated stories in the past, so who even knows if that is true.
Yes, I've seen old videos. Have even linked to some here. I don't see any evidence of stuttering until he became President. And, now it seems that its used as an excuse for what actually is evidence of his mental decline.
From 2008. This actually is about his stutter. A stutter that disappeared in college. And, that he never talked publicly about until 2004. Seems unlikely then that we're used to him stuttering all the time when we've witnessed him speak.
"For stutterers, tonight is our moment on the national stage. Although Biden's speech impediment started abating in high school and pretty much disappeared in college, it is now a part of his public biography. "They called him B-b-biden," Barack Obama said when he introduced the Delaware senator last week as his vice-presidential pick. "He picked himself up. He worked harder than the other guys."

I'm not certain what your point is...you don't approve of the way an old man talked about or acknowledged his speech impediment over the course of his political career. Yes, stutterers tend to develop strategies and tools which help them to diminish the outwardly obvious signs of the difficulty...and over time the stutter becomes less evident.
Again, none of that is particularly suspicious or evidence of some ethical or cognitive failing.

Stuttering waxes and wanes during a person's life. That's a property that isn't understood but many other short term factors can affect stutterers...fatigue being a big one. It seems stupid to concentrate on the speech characteristics rather the quality if the ideas and thoughts being expressed.

I don't think that the person who brought up the stutter thought that it took away from the quality of the speech.

I with you on that. While it may have been noted here and there that he stuttered as a kid, learned to over come it, I don't think one can say there has been "evidence of his stutter all through his political life". I certainly didn't know of it until this presidency and he was VP for 8 years.
I really don't even think he stutters that much now does he? I think he has embraced it to show how much he has overcome...I.e. what Obama said about him. I think they want to portray him as a strong man that overcome difficulties in life, which I think is why they/he mentions his son so much.
Also, I think the right wants to minimize it and maximize the idea that he's demented that he's really demented and just using his stutter as a cover up.

Just because we did not "know" that Biden was a stutterer the evidence of the condition was present. He displays certain characteristics of a stutter although it may take a trained and/or experienced eye to pick up the "tells" from video or observational evidence.

I'm afraid you misunderstood me because I didn't say the stutter wasn't present. But seriously, as a news junkie myself, I can say in the media I consume it wasn't mentioned that much and it fell under my radar until this election. Obama surely didn't introduce him as a B-B-B-Biden until recently am I correct?
So yes, it was there. For whatever reason whether he himself is bringing it up more, or the other side (I.e. Trump during the election) is being catty in bringing it up, or both, it's now talked about more than ever.
In my opinion.
