Hi,

I know what you mean about A&P filling up. It is the same at my college also. Micro and nurtition always also fill up on the day registration starts. Have you asked at your school about waitlists? Our school has a wait list and if anyone drops the class then they take students from the list. Alot of the students I know book classes the day they open and then drop them later so asking to be put on a waitlist is worth a shot. Good luck to you!

Are you not able to take those classes at another college? I always make sure I register for classes the very first day of enrollment and I do know they fill up fast.

Good luck and I would be pretty dissapointed as well! Also, a lot of people drop classes like that once they start them (I know in my Anatomy class about half the class has dropped out) so maybe you can get it, I would go talk to someone and get put on a list or something cause seats will come open I am sure.

Or ask the instructors for the courses if you can sit in on the first couple of classes. As has been mentioned, people often drop out early on or never show up at all. You could then officially register for the class at that point, and you wouldn't have missed anything. The school I did my prereqs at had no wait lists, so if someone really needed a certain class, they were sometimes able to go this route.

Thanks for your input......unfortunately, my school assigns registration times, and I guess mine wasn't soon enough!

Well, I am on the wait list, along with a dozen or so others! But, I will hope for the best........I can take A&P at another college, but they are all different-some are separate anatomy and physiology and some aren't accepted from one to another........geez, they really make this a challenge! But I will prevail!!!!!

Ack...what a pain!! Good luck with that. I agree with what others said about getting in off the wait list. You may want to speak to the instructor directly, too. A lot of people realize how difficult it is and drop it early on to get a full refund.

I would *definitely* recommend attending at least the first day of class, if not the first 2-3 days if you can. People often drop out, especially of tough science classes.

I agree with Mel D: try to talk to the instructor directly. Get to the class early, sit in the front, let him/her know about your situation and that you're serious about the class. It's worked for me!

I feel your pain. I almost wasn't able to take the chem class I registered for this coming quarter. They were filled within the first day of registration. Total panic...I had to take this class to be able to take EVERYTHING ELSE! Lucky for me the college opened up a few more sections since so many students were registering for it.

I agree with the above posters...try & sit in on a class & when someone drops, have the professor sign you in.

Hi AJ,

I know what you mean about those pre-req. classes filling up. It's good that they can at least put you on a wait list.

One thing I have found at my school, and it is especially true of the "Adult Education" classes offered in the evenings, is that on the first day of class there will be a ton of people and then by the second day you can allready see a noticable difference in the # of students that have dropped out. So, you may get lucky.

At my school if you can't get registered for the class it always pays to show up for the first couple classes because there are always a couple students that drop out. Especially for adult students that have spouses, houses, kids, jobs, etc. that can sometimes get in the way of them going back to school.

Also, at my school you have until the day of classes to pay your tuition bill. If you do not pay it by the first day of class all of the courses you are registered for will be dropped from your schedule. So, there is another way to get in as you would be surprised how many students get to the first day of class but then can't or don't pay their tuition bill.

Also, we have a professor at our school that teaches multiple sections of A&P I and II each semester and he is kind of enough that if one section fills up and that is the only date and time you can make the class - he will let you register in another section but come to the class time that you can fit into your schedule.

Ditto to the above! Get permission to sit in & watch them drop like flies We have to drop a course by the end of the 1st week in order to get a full refund so out they go!

If not, try a tech school, if they offer any health sciences you may be able to get in A&P there if they have openings.

My son is in the pre nursing program and they said there was a two year wait after he was done with all those classes. He is trying to transfer elsewhere.

Thanks for all the advice and well-wishing! I went to an orientation meeting yesterday, and it turns out there are about 40 students trying to wait list for A&P!!!!!

It's not looking good for me..............it turns out that our registration time depends on how many units you were enrolled in the previous quarter-and I had only 3. So, this quarter I will enroll full time, and they say that should help for the summer quarter.

In the meantime, I am looking into other schools, and also applying to an LPN program that allows you to take their A&P which is only one class.

I know that everything happens for a reason, so I know it will work out one way or another!
