Preparing to take HESI

Nursing Students General Students

Ok so I am in my last semester of nursing school (two year-associate degree) and I am preparing to take the Hesi in March and I am a little scared. I have been an A-B student all my life until I got into nursing school and Now I get happy when I make a C, throughout the last three semesters my theory grades have been crappy I have barely been passing the semesters and I know why. I am a procrastinator and my attention span is very short sometimes but I know I can make better grades if I actually take time to study. I don't work so I have the time, and this semester I am trying new things like getting rid of my T.V and other stupid distractions.......I have been reading alot of posts about success and no success with hesi but I want to hear a success story of someone who may not have the best grades but somehow manage to make it pass hesi because I need a happy ending. All my instructors keep tellling us that the majority will fail the first hesi and I am not going to accept that because I don't want to take it more than Once so if anyone reads this post and has some ideas, or a success story they would like to share with me please do... :)

I am also getting ready to take the Hesi exit in April. I would suggest you start doing practice questions. Have you purchased the Hesi book? I recently bought NCLEX 4000 software. I want to do at least 100 questions a day. I just need the discipline to do it. Do you take the hesi after every semester?

No we havent taken it after every semester but We took a practice hesi after the first year and my score was horrible it was 509 but I did a summer course and we took another practice one after that and my score was a 762 so I am improving and I am praying that third time is a charm and I do have the Hesi practice book and the Nclex 4000 cd and some more books so I will practice, practice, practice lots of questions and try to brush up on my patho cause my instructors say that hesi focus' alot on patho so I am going to get focused and thanks for the reply and good luck to you when you take the Hesi in April

Thanks. I think if you do alot of questions you will be fine. We took the Hesi every 8 week class. It seems to me that many questions were what would you do first. Priority questions. One or two math problems. Many times 2 seem correct, pick the one that makes the most sense.

how many different HESI books are there...?

I know of one Hesi book for the exit hesi but there are alot of editions to that.

Ms. shrasberry....

Your name is similar to someone I go to school with the exact dates for the hesi. I don't know sounds like I am crazy anyway just remember regardless what your grades have been,,,you are still here and have been. You will graduate I promise
