Nursing shortage?
Hi All, So one of my former classmates sent me an article that talked about the nursing shortage easing or becoming obsolete because of the economy and all the older nurses either delaying retirement or coming back to work......I totally believe the article because I just graduated in May and have been applying and calling hospitals and getting the same response, which is that we aren't hiring new nurse at the moment, you have to wait for the internships because you need at least a year of experience to work as an RN, or how about when I went to the Job fair for nurses, everyone there said you need experience and you just have to wait on an internship program. Boy what luck I have, spent two years in nursing school because I just knew that I would have a job waiting on me but it would be the year I graduate that the nursing shortage eases

HELP!!! I am freaking out about taking the NCLEX-RN
Just Relax.....I was calm before the test and I had prepared well and felt confident......now when I started taking the exam I was ok until it went pass 75, I had about 175 questions and after the exam I did feel like crap and I felt like I failed because everyone else in my class had about 75 questions and passed, well the night before I got my score I calmed back down because I started to think that as long as I was getting questions that I was close to passing so maybe I did......Yesterday I became a RN and am so thankful.....so just hang in there you have prepared well and you should definitely relax the day before....I can't say that you won't feel like crap after the test but you will feel great when you find out you are a RN :)

Taking the Nclex soon
Ok so I am scheduled to take my nclex on 7-7-09....I have thought about changing the date but all my classmates say bad idea because it only prolongs the agony....I have been doing questions every other day and have been doing hurst reviews and going over some other books as well......I am not nervous but I am scared if that makes any sense, all of my classmates who have taken nclex say that there is no point to study because the questions are so random and they ask stuff you have never heard of but I can not go into any test without preparing so if anyone has any ideas for me or things that will help me further prepare for my test that I can do in the couple of days I have left I would greatly appreciate the help......Thanks in advance and wish me luck :)

RN program with no medical experience
It doesn't matter it is a challenge either way...I did not have any hospital experience and I finished nursing school and some people who did have experience found it just as challenging like the ones without the experience. Nursing school is a utopia of learning and when you take exams you have to throw out the real world experience so if you have none thats ok, cause it does not matter one way or another.

Hesi :(
Ok hello all, I am in nursing school and about to graduate in may and I have taken hesi twice but have yet to pass, the first time my score was 656 and the second time my score was 764, we have to make a 850 to pass hesi.....I can still graduate but I only have 3 more times to take the hesi to pass to be able to sit for my boards....but I really want to pass the third time.....I know i need to study more but if anyone has a way to deal with test anxiety without drugs I would appreciate the tips....and I would like tips on how to be successful in studying for the hesi......any suggestions and encouraging words will be most helpful and thanks to all who respond

Hesi
Ok does anyone have any pointers or things that I should know about taking the hesi, or things that could help me better prepare for it. I have one week until I take it, now I have been preparing by reading books, going over my materials from the nursing program, I took a kaplan course, I have been taking lots of practice tests and I have been doing a hurst program. I just feel like I need to keep preparing, I really need to learn my meds, I know the common ones but I feel that I need to get more in dept because my instructor keeps stressing that hesi is big on meds. So if there is anything that anyone could think of that could help me better prepare for my exam which is in one week I would greatly appreciate the help.

Preparing to take HESI
Registered User Join Date: Jan 2009 Posts: 2 Ok so I am in my last semester of nursing school (two year-associate degree) and I am preparing to take the Hesi in March and I am a little scared. I have been an A-B student all my life until I got into nursing school and Now I get happy when I make a C, throughout the last three semesters my theory grades have been crappy I have barely been passing the semesters and I know why. I am a procrastinator and my attention span is very short sometimes but I know I can make better grades if I actually take time to study. I don't work so I have the time, and this semester I am trying new things like getting rid of my T.V and other stupid distractions.......I have been reading alot of posts about success and no success with hesi but I want to hear a success story of someone who may not have the best grades but somehow manage to make it pass hesi because I need a happy ending. All my instructors keep tellling us that the majority will fail the first hesi and I am not going to accept that because I don't want to take it more than Once so if anyone reads this post and has some ideas, or a success story they would like to share with me please do...

Preparing to take HESI
No we havent taken it after every semester but We took a practice hesi after the first year and my score was horrible it was 509 but I did a summer course and we took another practice one after that and my score was a 762 so I am improving and I am praying that third time is a charm and I do have the Hesi practice book and the Nclex 4000 cd and some more books so I will practice, practice, practice lots of questions and try to brush up on my patho cause my instructors say that hesi focus' alot on patho so I am going to get focused and thanks for the reply and good luck to you when you take the Hesi in April
