Pre-Reqs and Supporting classes COMPLETE!!

Published

I have now completed ALL of my ADN pre-reqs and ALL of the supporting courses!!

Here are my grades:

Pre-Reqs:

Anatomy & Physiology 1: A

Psychology: A

Comp. English: A

College Algebra: B

Supporting Courses:

Anatomy & Physiology 2: A

Microbiology: A

Speech: A

Developmental Psychology: A

Elective (American Lit): B

For the Fall '05 class, the acceptance GPA cut-off was 3.77 with only 11 credits of support classes completed.

If I figured it out correctly, I'll be applying with a 3.77 for the pre-reqs, and I'll have all 17 credits of support classes completed, with a GPA 3.82 (for the support classes.)

I'm not posting this to brag because I know there are many with higher grades than I have. I am just so excited, I had to share it with everyone!!!!

I'll have my physical, last HepB, and PPD on the 29th of August. Then I'll make copies of each, and put the originals in the envelope. Then I have to decide to mail the application in, or go directly to the school and hand deliver it.

(Has anyone ever had a problem with just mailing their application?? I'm almost scared it will get lost in the mail!!)

I'm taking a break for the fall. I feel I may need a break before starting the RN program in JANUARY '06!! If I don't get in, I'm not sure what I'll do. (I guess get a job or something, and wait.) lol

ANYWAY, I AM FINISHED!!! I AM READY TO GET ACCEPTED IN THE NURSING PROGRAM, AND ONLY HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE NURSING COURSES & CLINCALS!!!!! I AM SOOOOOOOO EXCITED!

Oh great, maybe I should mail it.

See you at orientation! (BTW, do you, lalajenn, or LKG6 know what kind of watch we need? Does it have to be a white band? I'm looking into buying one with a secondhand, a cheapy. Oh and shoes, what about shoes? :chuckle :chuckle )

Fun2care,

I am not sure about your school, but mine does require a white band with a seconds hand. Anyhow, I bought a cheap one with interchangeable bands. It comes with a leather white band, black, and brown band. :)

I've seen some like that as well... If I have to get white, I thought about ordering the Betty Boop nurse watch, but I'm not sure if I want to stay extremely cheap, or a little cheap! :) lol I know I wouldn't wear my everyday watch, even if it had a second hand. I would be my luck I'd loose it in an open wound or something.... lmao

I have never worn a watch either. Don't care much for them (I am always lost anyways :D ).............but atleast I might find a use :wink2:

I feel naked without a watch on. It's going to feel weird having a different one on! ...not to mention not wearing my rings! lol I read somewhere also that rings couldn't be worn. I'm not sure of the policy for the DCCCD program. I know I don't want to wear all of mine. (I'll feel naked without them also!) BUT!!!! I have a problem not wearing my wedding rings. I guess I'll just have to learn to not wear it when the time comes. I definitely do not want to loose that!

Oh no I didn't even think of my rings! I feel so naked without them esp. my wedding rings. Are we not allowed to wear any of them or can we just wear our wedding ring? I normally don't wear a watch so that will take some getting use to. Bracelets normally just get in my way. I use to wear a bracelet and I wore it when I did the CPR class and it broke. lol Ever since then I haven't worn anything on my wrists.

Ok , Im jealous where did you take your algebra. I am taking mine over at TC SE campus and I am dying right now in this class. Nurses do not need all this crap they teach.... Which school are you applying to? CONGRATS on finishing the pre- classes... that is quite and accomplishment i think....:)

I'm in the DFW area. Some schools in the area do require chem, some don't.

Congrats on finishing all of your pre-reqs and supporting classes! It's a great feeling isn't it???

I took Algebra in 2002 through North Lake (DCCCD). Actually it was an online course that came with CDs. I really think the CDs helped me more than any math teacher could have.

I would love to repeat it to make have a 4.0 for my pre-reqs, but I'm too scared I'd make a C or worse. lol I was proud of that B!

If you are having problems, please, please, please use your schools tutoring. Those people there are getting paid, and they need people to tutor. You might as well take advantage of it. I'm sure they would help tremendously with Algebra. I wish I would have went in for tutoring....might have ended up with an A. However, at that point I was working at a school, and started going back to school. I didn't have the "GOTTA GET INTO NURSING SCHOOL" determination behind it. ...So, like I said, I was, proud of that B!

(Still am proud of it! lol ......I hate math classes!)

Thanks, btw, and good luck!!!!!

Girl, I would frame that transcript with the B highlighted. I could never make time to get to the tutoring lab. I have 5 kids, no daycare and a husband that goes to class right after me at UTA. Plus a full time job.But we will see, my final is the 18th. I could get lucky

lol...I guess I should be really proud of my B.

I understand about the hubby & kiddos. Go to Google and type in Algebra tutor. There are all kinds of software out there where you can type in a problem and it will give you step by step directions on how to solve it. Maybe that will help you see how to work a problem in a way you can understand it better.

Good luck on your final...YOU CAN DO IT!! :)

Wow I took the same online math course Fun2care.

Wasn't it great? I learned so much from those CD's. I have never been very fond of math but that class actually made me like math. I am looking for a school that offers the uses the same software for Calculus.
