I have now completed ALL of my ADN pre-reqs and ALL of the supporting courses!!
Here are my grades:
Pre-Reqs:
Anatomy & Physiology 1: A
Psychology: A
Comp. English: A
College Algebra: B
Supporting Courses:
Anatomy & Physiology 2: A
Microbiology: A
Speech: A
Developmental Psychology: A
Elective (American Lit): B
For the Fall '05 class, the acceptance GPA cut-off was 3.77 with only 11 credits of support classes completed.
If I figured it out correctly, I'll be applying with a 3.77 for the pre-reqs, and I'll have all 17 credits of support classes completed, with a GPA 3.82 (for the support classes.)
I'm not posting this to brag because I know there are many with higher grades than I have. I am just so excited, I had to share it with everyone!!!!
I'll have my physical, last HepB, and PPD on the 29th of August. Then I'll make copies of each, and put the originals in the envelope. Then I have to decide to mail the application in, or go directly to the school and hand deliver it.
(Has anyone ever had a problem with just mailing their application?? I'm almost scared it will get lost in the mail!!)
I'm taking a break for the fall. I feel I may need a break before starting the RN program in JANUARY '06!! If I don't get in, I'm not sure what I'll do. (I guess get a job or something, and wait.) lol
ANYWAY, I AM FINISHED!!! I AM READY TO GET ACCEPTED IN THE NURSING PROGRAM, AND ONLY HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE NURSING COURSES & CLINCALS!!!!! I AM SOOOOOOOO EXCITED!
:balloons: :balloons: :balloons:
Thanks! I thought about that as well. I'll figure out what I'll do at the last minute I guess....as soon as I put the physical, etc papers in the envelope and seal it. Then I'll decide. lol
I know from the time I mail it or drop it all, time will slow down. From August 29th to mid October will seem like forever.
:icon_lol: Maybe I'll just concentrate on Christmas coming around again, and it will seem like tomorrow! :icon_lol:
:chuckle :chuckle

Good for you. I just finished all my pre-req to get on the waiting list, which I am so happy about. I never thought I would pull this summer off by taking Chem, Bio and Eng and Finally passed the NET test. I am hoping to start NSG school next fall. So while I am waiting I am taking:
Fall Semester- A&P I
Sociology
Physical Ed. (STress Mngmt) online
Winter- Psy- Life Span and Development
A&PII
I am pretty nervous about the A&P classes though. I hope I can do almost as well as you did. Was it really hard to you, any advise on what supplies I should get as far as Flash cards ect??? Thank and good luck
Wouldn't it be nice to read something once, and know it forever? uhhhh dreams...lolYes, I hope we do get to start together. Are you doing the BSN route?
Eventually I'd like the BSN but for now I am on on my last 2 pre-req (starting soon) for the ADN. I was going to start the req's for the BSN in January while doing the clinicals for the ADN. I am not going to overload though. Just one class at a time then maybe do an RN to BSN. Not too sure, but am looking into that.
I am excited too. At last, the fun begins :)
As far as A&P goes, I bought the flash cards, but didn't use them. I bought a coloring book, but didn't use it either. I know several people that bought either/both, and used them, and it helped them. So, it just depends on what you need to make the grade.
I did make my own flashcards with index cards. I either wrote on both sides, or pasted a small picture of something on one, and the answer on the other.
I made a CD of my lecture notes and listened to the CD to and form class, and on the way to take the tests.
I made powerpoint quizzes, and I studied those. (http://www.nursingjourney.com).
I also recommend using your schools science tutors, if they offer them, if you have any trouble. Spend as much time as you can studying, take your own pics of everything you need to learn such as models, bones, etc., if needed. (I have a bunch of pics on my site as well. If you see anything that you have in your class, print that pic out. You can write numbers on the areas where you need to know, and write the answers on a different sheet of paper. This is now a study method for you, if you can't go to, or not offered open lab times.)
Good luck and congratulations on making your goal of placement on your school's waiting list! (My program doesn't have a waiting list....you're either in or not.)
With determination, you can do well!

I'm trying to make up my mind to take a break or take a class that will be needed for the RN-BSN.
I definitely want to do it within 5 years. I don't want to take A&P 1, A&P 2, and MicroSUX! all over again!! LOL
Either that, or I won't do UTA-Arlington's RN-BSN program. I probably will do an online RN-BSN program instead.

Yes, that is part of the reason why I wanted to go for it before the 5 yrs. Also, wanted to get it out of the way now that I don't have any little ones. We would like to start a family soon, so it is an intricate decision. :)

I actually checked out your website awhile ago, and that is great!! How do you find all the time to do all of this???? I try to keep up with a journal and never seem to continue on. I hope I can be that dedicated as you were in all your classes to achieve a high grade and study and take notes, pictures like you have. I was out of school for so long I am 32 now. I never even finished high school, sadly to say but I did go back to get my GED 9 years ago and 2 years ago decided I had to do something with my life for me and my boys. I enjoy school so much, and feel I missed so much in HS it makes me sad,but what can I do, but be happy I am doing it now. I love learning about new thing, just have a problem retaining everything I read. Thanks for all the advise. I will use it. Sorry so long.... the posting

Congrats on the great grades!! I actually drove downtown to drop off my packet last Monday. lol I was scared it was going to get lost in the mail so I wanted to make sure I handed it to someone and made sure she took it and put it in the right box. There was several applications already that day and I was there around noon. Anyways good luck!! It seems like forever till October comes!
Thanks everyone!
As for the site, I've been doing websites as a hobby for 7-8 years, so it's like writing an email. lol
Good luck to all of you still working on your pre-reqs & supporting courses!! :)
lalajenn, ty! :) I think I'm going to get my hubby to drive me downtown. He can circle around while I run it inside. ...Beats having to pay for parking! LOL
I'll get mine in on the 29th, I'm so excited! Good luck to you!!!!
That reminds me, I need to do my PPD before the 29th! I don't want to wait until the 30th to mail the application in!!
