Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I have now completed ALL of my ADN pre-reqs and ALL of the supporting courses!!

Here are my grades:

Pre-Reqs:

Anatomy & Physiology 1: A

Psychology: A

Comp. English: A

College Algebra: B

Supporting Courses:

Anatomy & Physiology 2: A

Microbiology: A

Speech: A

Developmental Psychology: A

Elective (American Lit): B

For the Fall '05 class, the acceptance GPA cut-off was 3.77 with only 11 credits of support classes completed.

If I figured it out correctly, I'll be applying with a 3.77 for the pre-reqs, and I'll have all 17 credits of support classes completed, with a GPA 3.82 (for the support classes.)

I'm not posting this to brag because I know there are many with higher grades than I have. I am just so excited, I had to share it with everyone!!!!

I'll have my physical, last HepB, and PPD on the 29th of August. Then I'll make copies of each, and put the originals in the envelope. Then I have to decide to mail the application in, or go directly to the school and hand deliver it.

(Has anyone ever had a problem with just mailing their application?? I'm almost scared it will get lost in the mail!!)

I'm taking a break for the fall. I feel I may need a break before starting the RN program in JANUARY '06!! If I don't get in, I'm not sure what I'll do. (I guess get a job or something, and wait.) lol

ANYWAY, I AM FINISHED!!! I AM READY TO GET ACCEPTED IN THE NURSING PROGRAM, AND ONLY HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE NURSING COURSES & CLINCALS!!!!! I AM SOOOOOOOO EXCITED!

Thanks! I think the instructors rushed down first thing to give our grades to the data entry clerck. I guess they wanted a summer break before starting the Fall semester. lol

If you can't walk it downtown and drop it off personally, send it certified mail Fun2care. That way you will have a signature if something goes wrong. The Health Occ office at El Centro is famous for losing stuff (applications)!

I have no doubt you will get in. I will see you at orientation!

Oh great, maybe I should mail it.

See you at orientation! (BTW, do you, lalajenn, or LKG6 know what kind of watch we need? Does it have to be a white band? I'm looking into buying one with a secondhand, a cheapy. Oh and shoes, what about shoes? :chuckle :chuckle )

Congrats...are you going to a DCCCD school? This classes you took seem like the same one's I have to take..although I am taking Chem so I can apply at Brookhaven too. I have a lot of time to complete my classes though. My son just turned 5 weeks old and my daughter is almost 2 so I stay at home. I plan to hopefully get accepted by the time my son is ready for school. Anyways, have you gotten accepted to your nursing program yet?

Thanks. Yes, I am at DCCCD, but I'm not trying for Brookhaven.

I'll apply at the end of this month, and letters should be mailed out by October 15th. So, by the end of October I should know if I'll be starting in January!

Good luck on your classes. :)

The only things I heard about the watch was it just had to have a second hand on it. I wasn't aware of the color that we needed. I sure hope they aren't picky. Also about the uniform they said at the information session in July they will be changing the colors of the uniform. Not sure exactly when it will take effect yet though but they said it will be black pants and like a teal color top. They said no more white and the shoes will have to be black. I can't remember the exact date this will be starting though but I think it said by either Spring of 2006 or the Fall of 2006. I think I just took a mental note of waiting till I get accepted and going to orientation and finding out what color shoes I needed and all. Anyways I just bought a couple of cheap watches from Avon for the program. They weren't white or anything. I sure hope they last.

Black pants and shoes? Wow, this is a surprise.

Katie

Yeah I thought it was a big surprise too. I was thinking I would be wearing all white but the lady who did the info session said they are changing it.

Katie

As long as I don't have to wear white pants.

Whoo!

Specializes in Operating Room.

Black pants are fine with me! In fact, I saw some black flare-legged scrub pants online! :)

I doubt they are that picky about the watch, but I think I read somewhere on here that a person's school required a white watch band. I guess if we will be wearing teal and black, we shouldn't need a white band. lol (Teal and black....how cool is that!)
