Would it be a bad idea to take a&p 2 with microbiology?

I haven't taken either yet, but I have read on here that these are 2 of the hardest classes.

They are not easy classes. I would say that if you are a good, motivated student that it would be ok - just not with any other classes! Keep in mind that it is better to take them separate now then take them separate next year! Your judgment call.

I'm doing A&P I and Micro together + a math class + an english class.

I think it's manageable.

My 2 cents... if you can't handle two sciences classes and some fluffer courses, nursing school will be impossible.

I have been taking only one science course per each semester. I hope I can manage it when I go to nursing school.

I think it is best to get a really strong foundation in the sciences and not take them with a bunch of other courses (that's just my opinion). For some people it is doable, for me it isn't. I too am taking one science per semester so I can really focus on each science, but mine are accelerated 8 week classes. I have to put A LOT of time into science.

Understanding science is super important! While it is true you need to be able to handle a heavy course load in nursing school, it is my understanding that nursing school is a totally new ball game. You cannot study the same way we do for prereq classes which are geared toward passing exams. There is a lot of critical thinking in nursing school.

Yeah i was always good at sciences but i am nervous for my fall semester because i have anatomy chemistry and psychology. Luckily it is my next to last semester and i need those points so I'm stuck. What i try to do is contact my future instructor and get the syllabus as well as the book and try to read/study ahead. So far it has worked on all of my pre-reqs. I am also taking what time i can to go over youtube videos for my classes including current, future classes , and nursing topics.

If you feel as though you can manage it, I say go for it! I'm taking a&p 2 and psych .. I'll be taking micro next semester so good luck !

It's what I'm doing... along with Critical Thinking/Ethics. Do you have a lab for both? The A&P2 has a required lab for me, but the Micro's lab wasn't required for the ADN and I wasn't able to sign up for it (glad I didn't). I'm taking these together only b/c I had one more semester of pre-reqs.

There is A LOT of information for each class and I knew to make sure that I got top rated teachers (from 'rate my prof') for each. I got the best I could, and I also made sure that my A&P2 lecture was the same professor for the lab (did that for A&P 1 and it worked well).

That said, I spend COPIOUS amounts of time on studying. Perfect example would be today I spent about 3 hours on 7 Micro study guide questions. :dead: It usually isn't that hard, but the prof warned us that metabolism is difficult and genetics is time-consuming.

My point, though, is that I wouldn't have done it unless I: 1) had the 1 professor for A&P lecture and lab 2) had guaranteed good professors and 3) no other choice. Hope my experience helps.

Ive done this and yes, its manageable... pace yourself and be prepared for class.

I did great but everyones study patterns and techniques are different. You should analyze your habits and be honest with yourself as to what you can or cannot do... all the best
