Pre Req Course Schedule Advice!

Published

Hello!

So I'm trying to get into Spring 2018 ASN program. Based on your experiences, is this schedule ok or could it be improved by switching things around? I'm working right now so I can't overload my schedule.

Current Semester (unable to change) : Enc 1, Psych 1 , Med Term

Spring 2017: Dev Psych, World Lit 1, Interm. Algebra

Summer 2017: A&P 1 w/lab, College Algebra, Nutrition 1

Fall 2017: A&P 2 w/lab & Microbiology w/lab.

Have you been assigned an academic advisor? These questions are exactly why they are assigned. Make an appointment with them to discuss your classes- they are a wealth of information and you would be wise to take advantage of it.

So much depends on the school and how it structures its courses. Talking to your advisor and othet students is best. Personally, I would try to avoid two science classes with labs in a single semester, but I disliked labs to start with... always were a gigantic time suck with the prep, in lab work, and after lab reports. If it doesn't bother you, then you're probably fine.

Most schools require you to have completed your core math/science classes BEFORE you apply. Meaning, if you take your last classes in Fall of 2017, you won't be able to get into Spring 2018 (my application deadline is August 1 for the Spring semester). Your next option would be Fall 2018.

I would definitely meet with an advisor as mentioned above and do some serious research into the school(s) you're interested in.

Good luck!

You will want to get excellent grades in your sciences, so I would re-arrange like this so that you are only taking 1 science course at a time.

Thank you for the responses! The advising process really sucks because they are overworked and have too many students to take the time on each one. They rush and refuse to speak to you about any future semesters besides the current one you are in. They do have a general 1 hour program information meeting, but it is general and doesn't really answer anything that I can't get through their info packets online. For my school they allow you to go into a 'tentative' entry as long as you pass the course before the program starts.
