NLN Pre-Entrance Exam

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has taken the NLN pre-entrance exam for RN? Is it hard? How should I study? I bought the study guide, and I am wondering if it was worth buying?

Thanks

I have to take this test Jan. 18th. Admission to my program is based 60% on the NLN and 40% on GPA. I'm taking my last pre-req (microbiology) this semester. Good luck yall !!! I do have one more opportunity in March if I don't do well, so I'm not nervous(yet). The chemistry-elements and such- looks the most foreign to me in the study guide. I have not seen any of that since pre-1982 in high school. I feel that if we do our best there is NEVER anything to be ashamed of ;).

=Mark=

You can take it again?! I hate you. lol My school only lets you take it once a year. That is a long time to wait.

NLN does not let you retake it for 6 months 1 day!!! so if you do not do well, you would have to wait past July 18th!!

I just got my scores back and I passed, and really thought I failed...relax and you will do fine!!!

Easier said than done :)

Yes I was wrong, you can only take it every 6mos.:o On top of that I missed getting into taking the test on Jan 18-there are already 140 people sisned up. I have to wait until March 8th. I'll get my score back about a week before the deadline. My wife said OMG you have to ace that test!! I said I HAVE to do the best I can, and let God handle the rest;) .

Hello everyone--I'm new to the site and thankful for all of your posts! I'm preparing to take the NLN 24 February and I'm using the study guide. Our school administers the tests on computer--has anyone taken it this way? Do you know if you can skip a question and go back?

From what I am being told by my school, we can take it between January and June, then July through December. I have never heard that we have to wait 6 months/1 day. Maybe it is different for every school?

I got this from the NLN website, from the FAQ section.

The rules are per the NLN and not the school themselves, unless individual schools have made special arrangements with them.

Can I repeat the NLN PAX?

Any individual wishing to retake the NLN PAX-RN is required to wait a minimum of six months before being eligible to repeat the exam. If you wish to repeat the exam within one year from your last test date, however, written authorization is required from the director of the nursing school to whom the report will be sent.

Our school must have some sort of arrangement then - they definitely don't do it that way!

Unfortunately, my school is following this rule, I take the test in 18 days if i mess this up, i am screwed then i have to wait till next year to take it. The school i applied to only gives it a certain time every year it seems :(

I would double check...NLN is very srtict- so it is fair to all test takers :wink2:

It wouldnt be fair if I wouldnt make it into a program brcause of a retake past the deadline... and your school to be able to retake when wanted...just double check so you know.

Be positive anyway, you will do fine the first time!!!:monkeydance:

Good advice. I actually called NLN to ask because when I saw some people were taking it more than once I was trying to find a school in NJ that allows for that. I was told that while some schools allow for re-testing in 6 months, but most schools make you wait a year. Mine is one of those schools.

I asked them about people being able to re-test in less than 6 months and was told that isn't allowed to happen. The rule is very strict so that no one has more of an advantage than anyone else so I agree to check again.

Good luck.

I have spoken to them and gone to numerous infomational meetings - they give it in certain windows. You can take it between January and June and again between July and December. That is how my school does it. So, it's still two times a year, but we don't have to wait 6 months as long as it is not within the same window.
