I AM!! I ride my 2003 HD Road King to work at the hospital and every chance I get when off work. I don't think that I could handle the stress of being a new(9 mos) nurse without having my bike. Harley's(especially mine) are my favorite but I'm sure a fan of other makes. To the poster with the Ruckus, I know that the Big Ruckus is harder to find, but they cruise at hwy speeds and have that same rugged look as the Ruckus. Ride safe yall!!

I've only had one interview and had NEVER worn a suit before. When I finally got my license, I bought a suit. I had to look on the internet to see how to tie a tie the night before the interview. Monday morning I looked in the mirror and it looked like my head on a banker's body. The job was for a nurse intern to get in the door as they only hire new grads that are already in their employ. I got the job-woohoo! I agree with the people that state that it's better to be overdressed. Good Luck on the job search.

Well, the trick worked for me. I got the pop up about three hours after testing. I read the first 80-90 pages of this thread and felt a lot better about how I did on the test. Did the quick results thing today at noon and I PASSED!!! Thanks to everyone who posted about their experience with the test and the trick. Good luck to all!! Mark (Almost RN)

I don't know if I passed or not (according to the pearson vue trick,I did, but taking that with a grain of salt). Mstefano, I really feel that the style of the questions was similar to ATI(Meds Publishing), Saunders, and NCLEX 3500. None of these, in my opinion, are much different than the questions on my nursing school tests. Any questions I missed, I missed because I didn't know the answer- not because the questions on the nclex were formatted significantly differently than the thousands of practice questions I took. I just can't seem to remember everything (maybe I killed off too many brain cells in the 80's) no matter what I do. Please, for your sanity, try to relax and trust that you have done your best- that's all any of us can do. Good Luck, Mark

Well, I took the NCLEX-RN today and it shut off at 75 questions. When I tried the trick, I got the pop-up that, according to many posts in this thread, means that I passed. I sure hope so, because I have no idea how I did on the test. I will do the quick results thing as soon as I can- praying that the trick works. Mark

Thanks pkid, I just got back from the testing center. The test cut off at 75 questions and I was glad it was over. I don't know how I did. It seemed to get hard after the first few questions, but hopefully I did OK. Good luck on your results too pkid. I'm gonna try the PVT in a little while... Mark

Hey yall, I'm taking the nclex on Aug 22 at 8am. After pinning we had a live ATI review and they put up about 3500 practice questions online for us to use. I also use the Saunders Comp Review. I kind of slacked off studying after hearing that our ATT's would be delayed-WHOOPS, I could have taken the test today if I had been prepared. I am doing 100-200 questions a day and plan on doing it until I test. Good luck to everyone-We can do it! Mark

Congratulations on getting accepted! I didn't get the impression that you thought nursing was easy. You were just voicing some concerns. For myself, nursing school (ADN) is much more difficult than pre-reqs were. It's a lot of information to process and I spend a lot of time studying. I think I may have killed too many brain cells in my younger days though :). As far as divorces being caused by nursing school, I believe that if a marriage is rocky any additional stress, not just NS, could send it over the edge. You sound like a confident person and I'll bet you are going to do great.

Well I've got two more quarters in my ADN program-critical care and 180 hrs of preceptorship. Our last exam is June 18th and pinning is a few days later (hopefully on June 20th-my 45th birthday). For some reason our graduation is not until July 16th. I was looking over my transcript at all of the classes that I have taken since Fall 2005 and I was struck by how much I have accomplished. I graduated from high school in 1982 and hadn't taken any college courses before 05. I had to take two pre-algebra classes to get into College Algebra, adding up to thirteen core classes (usually two a quarter) and then four quarters of nursing school completed. I've worked fulltime+ throughout core and about 34-36 hrs/wk during nursing (Most of the people in my class either have worked or have small children). Just two more quarters to go? YeeHaaaaa! It just struck me reading this thread how close we are to the end of this long, often rocky road. CONGRATULATIONS to all of you !!! We're on the home stretch...finally.

When I was much younger, I would have done the easier thing and thrown down with the redneck-no problem. You basically did what a mature, responsible man should do. There is no way that we should let another person hold the kind of power over us that could endanger our nursing goal or our freedom. I am by no stretch of the imagination a pansy and neither are you. Way to go and good luck in school .

Well, as an RN student, I would absolutely NOT go along with the instructor in the same situation. I would have asked the CI what determined that the client was "not in her right mind" besides the CI's own judgement. I'm fortunate that my instructors so far have not asked me to do anything that could be detrimental to my education and our school's reputation with the medical community. Any of the instructors we have had would have told us to discuss the matter with the charge nurse or a staff nurse. They know the client's history and the CI and students are visitors (I'm lucky if I get to stay somewhere long enough to remember where most items are in the clean supply room). Hospitals in this area are not always receptive to students and the instructors want us to shine at clinical so that the school-hospital relationship is strengthened. Good luck!!

There are several big ladies in my class. While I'm not overweight, I sure don't see why it would hinder performance in NS. As a matter of fact, being tiny seems like it would be a bigger problem. As a guy, I'm always asked to help with heavy patients and if I had to choose between someone that's 100 lbs or 185 (my weight) to help, I'd pick the bigger person every time. For health reasons I class being overweight with smoking (I started back) in that it seems like it would be hard to teach patients to make healthy lifestyle choices when we are not making them ourselves.
