Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello ! First time posting on here so not really sure how this works and I hope it posts. I'm currently going through my pre reqs. I have a 3.7 GPA and have done amazing in all my classes. I'm finishing this semester up right now with an A in A&P1. I made my schedule for next semester today and I am taking general microbiology, A&P2, statistics and developmental psych.... am I crazy? Is this even possible? I know I'm going to be extremely stressed and overwhelmed but I'm prepared. Has anyone done this and do you think I am making the right move? This is my last semester before transferring for the nursing program.

Best of luck! We got this!!!

I'm taking AP2, micro, and chem together and I don't regret it a bit. If you have decent math skills stats should be fine. I don't so stats was a big struggle for me.

Okay, thank you so much!

Personally, I wouldn't try doing that in a million years. However, if you make time (adjust work schedule/other commitments) its definitely possible. However, Micro and A&P2 at the same time, because they're both lab classes, is super risky. Sometimes the labs are just as hard if not harder than lecture (they were in my case). If you are committed to doing well and are willing to make the time for it, I'm sure you will succeed!

Can you cut back to 3 classes and take the fourth over summer? That's what I would do.

Yes, it can be done. I personally wouldn't do it, that'll be a tough semester. This load will most definitely be much harder than your current load. In my opinion, it would be the statistics class that makes it bad. Micro and A&P2 will be tough but they are both science and will have a few similar lectures. Stats was really hard for me and took a ton of time, especially the second half of that class. But, if you can buckle down and just make it happen, do it and get it done. Easier said than done, I know.

How big of a difference will it make if you spread those classss out over the spring and summer? How many application periods are there a year? Might be worth it to take your time and save your sanity lol Unless your a mad man and can just "get er done". Good luck!!

If i decide to leave micro behind this semester and just take A&P2 it'll add an additional 2 years, because micro is only offered in spring and then I'd have to wait till the follow spring to apply to get in the nursing program and then not start till fall. That's why I'm having such a hard time deciding

I was planning to do history and philosophy over summer but I may just do statistics over summer

Such a tough decision I have to make!!

Are you using financial aid or are you paying for school? (Financial aid cannot be split between two schools at the same time)..If you are paying for it, what about another local college, look at their catalog and see when they offer it. Maybe you don't have to wait that long. Going to 2 schools at the same time, I had to do that due to applying to schools that all didn't have the same requirements. Otherwise, I would just do it and get it over with. Reduce hours at work. Being cash poor and stressed out will be worth it....Oh! But, you will be rich in knowledge :-D im cheesy hahaha

I'm paying for school, but there are really no other local schools, that i could make it to class on time from work at least. Stressful situation haha

Based on your reviews I would do A&P2, micro and developmental psych this semester and than stats over summer.
