Chem or A&P, which is more difficult?

Just wondering because I'm DREADING Chemistry! My school doesn't make algebra a pre req for chem, is that weird? We take liberal art math, wont I need algebra for chem?!

I thought chem was much easier because you can use common sense based on principles you learn along the way...A&P is a lot of memorization (but more interesting).

Chemistry was harder than Anatomy. Chem is lots of equations which you can get good at if you just practice by doing and re-doing your homework DAILY, it was the abstract stuff that was so hard to wrap my brain around. And yes, you will need to review your basic algebraic equations, (check google for "factor-label" equations). I actually began to like chemistry.

Anatomy is sheer memorization of a huge volume of information. It's more work actually (more hours to study and memorize) but I thought conceptually, chem was more difficult. I just keep telling myself that I really, really like it, and it's easy for me (mental programming), that and putting in the time.

Its all relative I guess to the teacher you get. If you walk in the first day and the teacher tells you NO ONE GETS a (A) in my class then you pretty much know what yer in for. Lucky me.

I'm not that great at math, but I'm doing great in Chemistry. Our school separates Anatomy and Phisiology, so I don't know what to tell you about taking a combined class. Good luck though :D

That sucks! My a&P professor was always telling us how hard the first test would be...and it was, 17 out of 70 students made a 74 or above. I studied like crazy and made a 75.:scrying: Also he gave us the most indepth/difficult lab test so far during the same week we had to study for the test...I mean is he TRYING to make it impossible to get an A?

My Professor thinks its her job to weed out those that dont have a near genius I.Q. . After all one mistake can kill a person, is her view.

i took the cobo A&p year long course and it was time consuming and extremely difficult, but my friend from another school across the river wasn't required to learn 40-50% of what we learning in the lecture and only learned about 25% of what we were required in the lab. I am not kidding! (i saw the tests and what they needed to know for lab practicals and one of their teachers worked partime at our school and confirmed this!) So what i am trying to say here is that it truly can vary. Some will make it manageable and others will make it more difficult than a mid 200 level class needs to be. Chem is mainly memorization and equations, but the equations are not that hard if you practice them. stoichiometry i believe it is called is not that hard to learn. It may be a bit more boring to many though which would make it a bit harder to pay attention to.

So, generally speaking, is chemistry harder for those who struggle with math?

(I'm not a mathmetician by any stretch of the imagination!).

For me it wasn't so much the math. It was concentrating on a bunch of jibberish I really had no interest in. A&P blows my mind and really it is not that bad. I am a firm believer that if you LOVE a subject you should have no problem with it. :)

Have to agree there...chem is just a matter of repetition...A&P is very time intensive and OMG the memorization! :uhoh3:

Chem was easy for me. It was advanced A&P that got me. Finally after many years I get it. :selfbonk:

I really loved them both........... Chemistry is so different it is a lot of math. But is makes so much sense.

A&P is very detailed oriented, making connections between body components and etc, it also makes sense......

I hope you like them both!

I so hate english lit and etc so science is so much easier for me.

Just remember, when they start talking about moles, dont get crazy think about in the abstract. For example a dozen donuts are different from a dozen eggs but they are both dozens.......

I have encountered a few like this one myself. So not cool.
