  1. Hi, Just a thought. could the stress of your schooling be starting a reocurrance of your ED. keep an eye on it. Sometimes we formulate scenarios in order to back up or back in to a behavior. I know a lot of girls who got depressed and anxious during nsg school, so it is nothing to be ashamed of. talk these feelings over with your therapists. I assure you, we do not all look like we stepped off of greys anatomy. God Bless:nurse:
  2. most people when they do a wean, with pmv or not have a trach mask with humidifier. ( the strait o2 is very drying). It all depends on the situation. I have seen o2 piped into the side port of a pmv. trach pts are neck breathers. so usually the situation is the above. I am not an expert, but sometimes if a pt is not getting enough via the tm, then supplement o2 via nc is given. Why dont you ask the person who this, the rationale behind. Just say " I was wondering the rationale behind that, not accusingly, just questioning" Let us know. You have spiked my curiousity.
  3. I know what you are talking about, it happens all of the time. On a transport they send emts not paramedics. I would complain to the ambulance company you use. I am sure they want your business. Is there a reason why she wasnt medicated prior to transport ie something po??
  4. Hi, I feel for you. Sorry you are having such a hard time. Anxiety is awful and terrible to deal with. Although nursing is incredibly unpredictible, it sounds as though your floor is total chaos. I assure to you that anxiety is not crazy. anxiety is anxiety. Speak with your MD. I feel as though anyone in your position would be feeling some sort of anxiety. Various work loads, different types/mix of patients. I am concerned about the sleep issue. This could and will exacerbate any condition. Please discuss this with your MD. Best of luck. you are in my thoughts. You will be fine. Sounds as though you are very empowered. You should also blow off steam some times. go out with friends. Vent on this board.
  5. Hi, I hate to tell you what to do, however I feel that if you want to do Mental Health, there would be much more opportunity as a psych NP. Including medication management. 1. The first question is - Do you want to be a nurse? If so, then pursue it! LICSW and LMHC are wonderful, however with nursing your spectrum of treatment is far more vast.
  6. Never heard of this from anyone.. I can see if they were having you make up clinical hours. Quincy College has a very tough AD program, then again they are all tough. good luck!
  7. I heard that in maine the shortage is severe. I know in Massachusetts it is tough. Tell her to contact recruiters.
  8. not only would there be no nurses if you eliminated people, there would be no MD's. I think it is responsible to take care of yourself. It is just like taking insulin for diabetes.
  9. arent you covered by the ADA if you are treated?
  10. I understand how dejected and sad you feel. I would feel the same way. Give yourself time. See if you get on Suzannes study plan. The only way that you are going to get that house built is if you pass the NCLEX and start working. Remember to breathe.
  11. I have seen this type combination of meds before in psych. Sometimes the atypicals can be used for off book reasons, not always psychosis. The medication can sometimes make the SSRI act quicker or agitation or as a prophalatic for psychosis. She should ask the pdoc for the rationale. It is the Xanax that I would be concerned with. I hate that drug. It has such a short half life that alot of people develop a dependence on it. The longer acting benzos are less addictive. I guess it is good for short term anxiety. Trazadone is a good sleeper and may help their depression a little. I hope your relative feels better soon!
  12. I know that other colleges do not have this policy. I sent you a PM.
  13. Waltham is nice. It is about 45-30 minutes north of boston. It is not far from Leahey Clinic, and alot of the North Shore Hospitals. I am not sure of any good agencies in the north shore. Just wanted to welcome you to Mass.
