Hi Everybody.
I'm new to this board, but it seems that there are a lot of older/returning students here.
Just out of curiousity, how old are you and where are you in life???
I'm 33 and a SAHM to two children: dd(3), and ds(1). I'm hoping to get into UF's Accelerated BSN program next summer and somehow find time to balance it all....to be honest, it's a little intimidating to think about.
Good luck to us all!!!

I'm sure glad to hear that I'm not too old. I'm starting nursing school in September at age 63. I need to have something to do when I get "old."
I hear ya. My mom is going back to finish her bachelors (Health Systems Administration) and she's 56 well everyone in her class is over 35 so she feels very comfortable in her environment. My school actually has a lot of young people like straight from high school but the majority is over 21 (I'm 24). There is only one older guy in our class I think he's in his 40's.
I am 2 weeks away from 37 years old. I am married with 3 children. (8, 3 and 8 months). I have been thinking about nursing for a very long time. I used to live on Long Island, NY where the cost of living is very high and I could not afford to quite my job and go to school. I did not have anyone to watch my kids and so I worked opposite schedule as my hubby and so working AND school was out of the question.
I have since moved upstate ny and have decided it is time to do something for ME for once. I know it will be a long hard road but that actually makes me excited!
I can not wait to start!

Hi All! I'm in my mid 40's, married w/ 3 kids in elementary school. I see my age not as a detriment, but as a huge asset. I've got a lifetime of experience and confidence that I would never have had if I'd done this in my 20s. This will be my third degree, I hope to combine the 3 into a really excellent vocation!!

I'll be 37 this Jan. 2008. I have 2 kids, a 4 year old and a 12 year old. I'm taking one class at a time bc dh and I work full-time. I have 3 more pre-reqs to retake bc the gpa acceptance seems to be 3.7-4.0 and I want a higher GPA. I have a 3.76 but want to be more competitive. Also, some of the pre-reqs from a previous degree expired so I had to retake one course again. It's been a snails pace but as I'm getting closer to finish, I get more excited. I hope to start nursing school when I'm 39. I know it will be worth it in the end. I think it's not about age so much or feeling old -- I see it as a chance to "exercise" my brain. I wish I did it sooner but sometimes things fall into place at different times.
