Hi,

I am so thrilled! I have just got to brag! I got my acceptance letter yesterday! I almost cannot believe I got in to the program that I was praying that I would get in to! I was accepted in to the BSN 1y accelerated program :happy dance:!

:balloons:

I applied a year ago & they mistakenly "lost" my file (It was down in admissions) for the traditional program. so, instead of mooping about I picked myself up & graduated from UNLV in May w/my BS in Health Ed & decided: what the heck, I might as well try for the 12m. I have always done well in accelerated classes. But this is nursing  ! I am scared but more certain of myself then ever before.

Any advise, words of wisdom, books to read, ect that anyone wants to share? I don't know a whole lot bout the accelerated programs. I know that I do need to find financial aid (should I go FAFSA again?) purchase an NCLEX review book & celebrate my accomplishment!

woo hoo congrats!!!! One word of advice for you, DONT GET BEHIND:) accelrated programs move fast! manage your time wisely...figure out your learning style and how to best utilize it..i know everyone learns best hands on but when you are in lecture you either learn auditory or visually or both maybe...i find i learn best when i listen so i have a digital voice recorder and i tape my lectures. I also type up my notes when I have time. I keep up on my reading bc if you dont before you realize it you will have 10 chapters of stuff to do! Be organized too...make a list of things you need to do and stick to it...

oh and the 2 most important things. 1. Find a friend and a study group!! 2. remember to schedule time off or you will go nuts!

Thanks! I think that #2 is going to be the hardest for me! :chuckle And keeping up w/the reading (in addition to sleep and keeping the DH & kids happy-luckily my youngest is 14y (daughter) & DH & I have been married almost 22y + our boys r 19 & 21y).Sometimes I tk the DH is the most needy. :rotfl:
