A&P II Winter/Spring '08

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Since I see the sticky already for A&P 1, why not start one for A&P II?

I'll be starting January 7th. :)

Specializes in None.

This class is somewhat interesting. Although I could do without the Histology segment. Learning about tissue is a snooze fest for sure, LOL!

I have already taken human anatomy (covering the anatomy of all body systems), so half of the material in A&P II will be/should be review for me. I am taking it online, however, which I don't like as well - I like the face-t0-face interaction better. The professor also is not too organized, which is a huge pet peeve of mine.

Good luck to everyone!

Jeez, I'm tempted to think we're in the same class.

We just finished week 3 of a&p2 and our first lecture exam is looming on Tuesday of next week. It will cover the endocrine system, the blood and the heart. I feel pretty ok about the blood, but I will happily used the links posted to check out the slides for the practical exam on Feb. 5th. The endocrine system I am feeling a little shaky about, though. :( The heart, I've not really had a chance to finish the reading and she sped through the lecture like lightning, and I don't think many people had read the chapter yet because there were like NO questions. *sigh* So I'm a little nervous about that, too. I'll be studying all weekend, to be sure.

Our first test is 2/8, endo and blood. I've got a copy of Springhouse Notes A+ review series and it's GREAT. I also listen to the Cochise College A&P podcast and get a lot out of that. Give it a listen, you may find it helpful.

oh thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!

i am having a hard time with the heart/cv system/blood/blood tracing!!!!

you are wonderful!!!!!:w00t:

I honestly don't remember where I got the book but Amazon has it: http://tinyurl.com/2odjb6 The diskette may not do you much good if you're like me and don't even have a floppy drive anymore, but the book is great.

The lecture is via itunes. Just look under itunesU and search for A&P. It's Kerry Henrickson. She's great. AND, if you go to Cochise, you can see some of the lecures transcribed. Not all of them, for some reason, but a few. I don't know if she's using the same book but she is hitting the same points my teacher is putting in the outline. Right now she's doing a very long and involved ABO lecture using trees with ornaments vs plain trees as examples. Pretty funny.

Nice! I just got into itunes (yeah a little behind the times) and was looking for some podcasts. Lectures on A&P sounds great! Thanks!

It really is sweet. My faves so far are the Cochise and St. Scholastica.

Ok, just got our grades back from our lecture exam... I got a B... meh :p Took the lab exam last night, felt pretty good about it, I guess, but I always feel better than I end up doing on the exams, it seems. So I will be cautiously optimistic there.... Now the scary part is, there's ANOTHER lecture exam on Tuesday the 12th.... covering 3 chapters, and she will be JUST finishing the lectures for it on Thursday. There will be a quiz Thursday night, another online quiz over the weekend. The chapter review exercises for all 3 chapters are due on exam day (and those take HOURS to do). And of course, I'm nowhere near done with the reading! :(

I am not sure how I'm going to pull this one off, to be honest. I'm only on here to vent this out, so I don't start hyperventilating while I'm reading and pass out. I guess I'll be living, eating breathing and sleeping a&p (well, I already do as it is, which is why I'm a litte worried about this one....)

Any advice? tips? commiseration?

I am 4 weeks into my AP II class. We had our first exam on endocrine system. I got an A. Our next one will be on blood and my first practical is on arteries. Our professor is good and we "only" have to study our lecture notes (about 20 pages).

I totally commiserate. And I offer bagels. ;)

I think all you can do is take it bit by bit, try to break it down into small parts so you don't feel overwhelmed by the quanity of work. You can totally do this. You have a week to work on it, don't forget. It's not like you have anything else to study.

I too am in A & P II. I'm not sure about what a sticky note is. But thought I would post. Thanks for the notes. They will be quite helpful. I take my A & P online. I have a great study group so we do pretty well. We had our first test the other day. Didn't do so well because it was CV, Endocrine, Sp Senses and brain and spinal cord anatomy. Thanks for all of the good advice on here.
