Pre-Nursing "Support" Group

Published

I thought I would make a thread dedicated to all of us waiting for an Acceptance letter, NET results, or even for those of you who are done waiting....getting ready to start up NS soon! Let's all band together and support one another in these stressful times~ no one understands us better than each other! Go future nurses!!!! :yeah::nurse:

sissy,

50/50 is great...my school has about 200 apps and only 24 spots..I got my letter last month. Good luck to you...sounds like you've got a great shot!!!!

Hello everyone

Hope you are all doing well....Congratulations to those of you who have already been accepted and big hugs and support to those who have not been accepted.

I had my interview for a BSN program two weeks ago and they are mailing out "the letters" in less than two weeks.....so needless to say I'm feeling very anxious and nervous.....

I wanted to join this thread to offer support and feel supported during this dreaded wait :)

Big hugs to all

Thanks for joining, we can always use some extra support! I wish you the best of luck getting into your program...it feels great when you get "the letter"! I'm still happy about it, but now reality is kicking in that I'll be starting school in about a month and I'm starting to get nervous/scared....hehe. Let us know how it goes with the letter and all...we're here for you! :)

well if you already have a master's in anatomy, i would imagine you already have done many pre-requisites as far as science classes are concerned. i would do some research on different colleges/universities that you are interested in and either call them or email them about what you need to do to make the correct steps. each school has different pre-requisite classes that they require, and a different amount. usually four year schools require around 62 credits of pre-requisites before entering their nursing program. since you already have a degree, the accelerated route would be your best option. find some schools that are in your area that look good and do more research, and make appointments to talk to people in the programs. good luck with everything...i hope i helped a little bit!

this may sound rather stupid but you knw i am completely new to this field..i mean nursing..however after the prenursing program one has to give an exam to be a RN right?Correct me if i am wrong...I have applied to one university but i am so skeptical about acceptance to the program..Is it tough to get into a prerequisite program ?

Thanks for the welcome :)

Friendlyghost: I have also thought that it would be also be nervewrecking to be accepted into a BSN program so I'm glad you confirmed it. I am sure you are nervous about what to expect etc.....

I'm so glad I found this board and supportive group to help pass the time until I find out whether or not I've been accepted.

Take care

To Lost... , no, you don't have to take an exam to become an RN BEFORE entering a nursing program...maybe you're talking about the HESI entrance exam? That tests you on basic skills in certain areas like reading, vocabulary, science, and math. However, my university did not require it...they only based acceptance on GPA's. Each school is different, so researching them in depth before applying really, truly helps! I was clueless how the whole application process worked up until about five months ago when I was realizing I needed to apply to different nursing schools. Thankfully, I got into the only program I applied to on my first try, but if I didn't, I was well informed on other schools just in case! Also, it isn't hard at all to get into college to complete pre-requisite classes. You can either take them at a university, college, or community college! I took mine at a community college to save a LOT of money, and now I will be starting my nursing school at a state university in Missouri, which isn't outrageously expensive, but it isn't cheap either! Let me know if you have anymore questions (again, I hope I helped some! :) )

To HeatherTN, I'm glad you enjoy this forum! I do too! It's very nice to be able to relate to others in how I feel, and to help others as well! This is the best place for support in my opinion! :) Have a nice night!

Hello, I'm playing the waiting game as well, so I thought I would join! I did the university route for 3 years, which I never saw the end in sight, so I decided to become a flight attendant. After being a flight attendant for several months, I realized how much I really did want to be a nurse. So I went back to school part time, while I fly full time. Now I've applied to only one nursing school, (No back up!:smackingf) But I finally see an end to the tunnel! I'll find out between the end of april and the beginning of may! ( Crossing my fingers!) I hope this finally happens, this is so nerve racking! But I'm glad to know there are others out there going through the exact same thing! This is one of the MOST stressful things!

Hi all

I came to wait and chew my nails with you guys. I applied last month to a CC program here close to home. This is my second app, as I applied last semester too. The first time I applied I made an 85 on my Hesi entrance, and still had some unfinished pre reqs. This time I made an 90. something on my hesi, and have finished all but dosage calc. I had something like 22 points last time, and now I have 34 so I am in much better shape.

The week of application deadline the college announced that it would be absorbing its sister schools applicants into our applicant pool, and reducing the amount of available slots by 10 so my excitment over having more points was blown away. Where I was feeling pretty confident now I have no clue where I stand.

The emails/letters go out the week of April 24 so I still have some waiting to do. I am a 38 year old mom of three so I really cant afford to wait much longer (I am sure many of you are in the same boat). I want in, and I want in NOW !!!! I have put my all into this, my family has sacrificed and put their faith in me, and all of my eggs are in one basket. I am so nervous.

In the mean time I am going this week to get my physical, and a bunch of the shots I will need. I am also going to take the one day CPR class that I need to take if I am accepted. They say your positive thoughts have energy to make things happen so I am going to move along like I have already gotten my acceptance letter. I also went to church for the first time in 15 years last weekend, and I am going back this weekend. I figure with my GPA, positive thoughts, and God they got to let me in ....RIGHT...ok stop laughing!!!!! You have to admit it can't hurt.

Anyway, we can wait together, and maybe it won't be as bad.

Hi Cool Peach!!

It sounds like you are in great shape and I really wish you all the best. It's great to have this thread and the support of others while we wait to hear.

I am a 39 yr old mother of two so I totally feel the same way :)

Good luck!!!

Heather
