  1. I wouldn't worry about it...just go to the library and use an APA book there...or an english teacher might let you borrow one like at my school...I wouldn't bother buying it...but my school also doesn't require it.
  2. Honestly...I still do stuff with my family...we still go shopping and to the movies and play games...you will still see them, but with kids at home all the time, you will need to find a quiet place to be sure the study time you do get, is good quality time. Now, if your Mom is there to take on the responsibilty of the kids for you...WOW...I'm Jealous...you should be all set. Don't let the studying and everyone saying you won't have time for anything else get to you...it's not that way for me, and I'm someone that needs to study...I dont' just GET IT the first time around. good luck!!!!
  3. My husband is a Respiratory Therapist in NH. Depending on where you live, you make VERY different pay. He began 10 years ago around $16 in WA state at one hospital and $20 at another...and a year later we moved to NH and he was making close to $19/hr...he would guess starting pay would be closer to $20 now. As far as overtime goes...that all depends on if they have it. Most hospitals don't want to pay overtime if they don't have to...it comes and goes depending on need. So if you're trying to get into something that is going to guarentee you overtime...it's not going to happen. 3 twelves are pretty common...so you would really only be getting 36 per week. Shift differential is something most hospitals will have...after 3pm between $1.50 and $3.00 an hour depending again...where you are. Weekends I believe are $3 more. Hope this helps... RN's will make more money if that's what you're trying to compare with. Good Luck!!!
  4. Hi all, my name is Amy and I start NS September 2nd at Lakes Region Community College in NH. I am so excited, but so nervous...I have two girls 10 and 14 and a husband that's an RRT at the same hospital I'll be doing clinicals...it's all so crazy. I just wish it were over!!! Good luck to everyone!!! I hear we'll all need it
  5. 2010 what a great year that'll be. i am so happy for you. i can totally appreciate how hard the wait was. i found out on february 29th and i'm still having a hard time believing it. congrats to you and welcome to the class of 2010!!!
  6. Congratulations...how wonderful...good luck to you. I start this fall and I'm beginning to get nervous, but mostly excited. YIPEEEEEE
  7. ah...gotcha... I misunderstood. Well, I guess this is a good time to find out how you'll do...but definately utilize the resources at school and good luck!
  8. I'm starting school this fall too...I'm going to be 39 next month...a bit nervous myself, but I'm quite certain that if you got into the program, you must've done well enough in your math and sciences for them to consider you. Have you taken A&P I and II yet? and Micro? Good luck to you...I'm sure if you have good study habits and use all your available resources...you'll do just fine. Congratulations!!!
  9. sissy, 50/50 is great...my school has about 200 apps and only 24 spots..I got my letter last month. Good luck to you...sounds like you've got a great shot!!!!
  10. Good luck to you, way to hang in there. Congrats on your new marriage!!!
  11. Congrats....isn't it amazing??? all this waiting and hard work paying off...I'm thrilled for you!!!!! Good Luck in school
  12. Hi all...the wait is finally over....Just got my letter last month and the weight has been lifted. I start Fall 08' and could not have screamed louder when it came. Good luck to you all...I'll be thinking of you and I definately know what you're all going through. It's worth the wait.
  13. I also received my letter of acceptance on February 29th. I will be going to NHCTC Laconia (New Hampshire). I actually screamed with joy. I was told I would probably not hear until spring...CRAZY. Ok, now I just have to stop reading about all the the NS that are stressed out and are worried about failing and about so many people dropping out...ugh...I just need to keep away from the negative vibes and stay positive. Good luck to all still waiting to hear...and CONGRATS to all those that have made it...WHAT A GREAT FEELING!!!!!!!! Amy:)
  14. honestly...I can't remember anything from the vocab or science, but I remember that there was a newton question in the math sections...something about how much a baby weighs in Newton...all the questions on this test are so hard that you can't remember any of them...you're stressed out and freaked out. I've just taken it for the second time...passed but only increased my Math section (by 28 points). I live in NH and I'm applying to two schools nearby. Both schools require all your paperwork to be in by Feb 1st....then we play the waiting game. One school gets about 200 applicants, but only take 24 students...the other school get about 400 applicants and take 100 students. good luck to me!!! and to all of you too.
  15. Mash, Does that mean your composite percentile score was a 56? Seems to me that everyone that I read about on here has a score that's in the 90's...unreal to me to score that high. The first time I took it I had a 71...anyway, If it's the composite percentile score...I got an 80 and my composite was a 118...we have to have above a 50 in each subject in order to apply in my state. I can't take it again for 6 months and I'm going through the application process now...I just hope it's goos enough...I'm trying to stay possitive...my GPA is 3.85... and all my science classes are A's....
