It depends on your school though because community colleges require to be a CNA while Universities you don't have to be a CNA but it helps on your application as well. If you're applying at the community college, you don't have to take chemistry at all because it's not an university level. Hope this helps and God bless :nurse:

Oh yeah nutrition/health too. Those are for BSN only.

Do not assume that to be true in all cases just because it was for the schools you looked at. ALL schools are different. The community college that would have been my back up school DOES require Chemistry, and is why I couldn't apply to it for spring (though I got in for my first choice which was a diploma program which did not).....they also DO NOT require a CNA.

Also not only BSN....Nutrition is required for the diploma program that I am starting in Feb.

The pre-req are:

Intro to chemistry,

Human Anatomy w/lab,

Human Physiology w/lab,

Microbiology w/lab,

English composition,

Fundamentals public communication,

Critical thinking,

and math.

allot of this is GE requirements. In addition, you must take Nutrition, Psychology, Lifespan Development, Philosophy of ethics, Statistics, Cultural anthropology or Principles of sociology, or Social problems to complete the BSN.

I forgot to add at my state college, science courses are the deciding factor if you get in or not. each school is different, the city college in my town accepts students based on a lottery, my college goes by grades. So I would recommend look at other colleges see what they require and take the required courses and have them for back up, that is what I am doing.

I'm talking about at my school. Please read my comment again which I said "IT DEPENDS ON THE SCHOOL!" duh!

Specializes in Emergency Room.

anatomy 1&2, microbiology, CNA license, math 120 or 126, psychology, lifespan of human development, humanities, human biology, nutrition

I would say check the school website you are planning to apply for as well since all schools have different pre-reqs.
