Prairie view CON Fall 2010

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi,

I applied to the CON for fall 2010 and i was wondering if there are more people out there who applied too.

I've been reading some older posts and it seems like we wont know anything regarding acceptance until late April, early May

I am already ready to hear something and have no idea how i will make it that long.

Also i heard the CON is first come first serve? Any truth in that?

I turned in my clinical application Feb 19th and the deadline was March 1st. Is that too late?

Sorry I didn't answer your question! You want CPR for healthxare providers (and they should ask if its your first time or if you need recertification.)

Yea.... for 2 and half yrs... looking fwd to it...

Yes, I knew its from AHA, but I read Red Cross somewhere... that's why menti0oned it.. I've registered for the BLS for Healthcare providers with AHA..

That's what I had thought that we only need to fill it in with the dates and all... but while I was looking at it... it read DOCUMENTATION FOR IMMUNIZATION... right above the immunizations... that's why I felt I should question it...

As far as Flu shot and H1N1 is concerned, I spoke to Mrs. ******** today and she said since there is no place to mention those... you need to get a card or some from ur doctor or clinic stating that you took both... and send in the copy...

I would appreciate more info from anyone...

terms of service reminder

some posts have been edited to comply with the terms of service. please do not post names, initials, or contact information of professors or other school officials on the public board. it is better to communicate this type of information via the private message system.

as stated in the terms of service:

while it is important to be able to network, everyone should be mindful of the following:

  1. it is a small world - when we narrow it down to a state and throw in some personal info, there is actually a pretty good chance someone may recognize you if you are not careful. your privacy is paramount to us.
  2. while allnurses.com is a wonderful place to vent (without excess personally identifiable details) it is not the place to express why ("x" specific person, place or program) is terrible. gripe away, but since we cannot permit allegations to be made about named entities, your care in not naming them is very much appreciated.
  3. please do not give out personal information about others. do not name names where anyone could identify the person in any facility including your nursing programs.

thank you for your cooperation.

I called up there (PV) today and i was told that i could take the CPR class with either the AHA or the Red cross. I'm taking CPR classes for Adult, Child and Infant with Red cross.

As for the Flu shots, i took them at a minute clinic with CVS and i had the nurse Practitioner sign a piece of paper with her name and the shots i took. I'll make copies of those.

Congratulations on getting in Lovely Kanwal4u. I look forward to seeing you all when school starts.

Thanks for the info knalimol.. How about TB screening.. you did it the same way????

Well I haven't taken that yet because I took the mmr and Hep B and flu shots with a span of two weeks and I was told that my results for the TB skin test would be a false positive cuz I had live viruses in me ... Yikes!

But I'll go by the health center at UH and ask the procedure for that. Regarding proof, I'll just have them sign a piece of paper saying I took it.

Both my CPR class and my physical are on the 31st so I'm looking at turning everything in by the 1st of April.

oh that's cool... I've all the flu shots covered from before high school graduation... but have to take the flu and H1N1 shots...

I think if you're positive on TB screening, you would rather have to do a CXR n have it negative... something like that.... Yea I'm gonna hopefully try to have everything ready by Thursday or Friday...

I was able to get all the remaining immunizations cleared... and they gave me a little card...

Now, just CPR left for this weekend!!!

That's good. All I have left is my physical, TB skin test and CPR classes which I will knock out this week. Hopefully by April 1st I'll be ready to turn in everything.

Hello to all my future classmates....does anyone know if the H1N1 is required or they would just like to have record if u have had any of the immnunizations itself???? Have anyone talked to her personally?? She gave me her cell phone number so I will definitely give her a call....and by the way my arm was SOOOO SORE due to that darn BOOSTER SHOT :-)

I think it is required. Who did u talk to? Congrats for getting in.

Congrats nurseintraining!!!

Yes, it is required... I had spoke to her and she said there's no place to put flu shot and H1N1... so get proof from the place and mail the copy in... On the acceptance letter, it also says to take flu shot and H1N1 both...
