practice test scores/percentages to pass nclex?

Published

I will be taking the NCLEX RN soon and have been doing practice comprehensive exams. I was wondering what kind of scores people who ended up passing the NCLEX were getting during their studying?

Thanks!

Are you doing Kaplan? On the question trainers I got (in order) 63, 63, 58, 53, 61, 70 and 62. My scores for the diagnostic and readiness test were identical, 67%. I didn't do a single question from the qbank (complete waste I know!) so no score to offer there.

I did all of the chapters in LaCharity and got (in order) 64, 71, 65, 50, 80, 63, 68, 65, 55, 76, 65, 77, 75, 83, 74, 52. I did the first twelve case studies and got (in order) 90, 88, 80, 75, 40, 69, 70, 47, 43, 47, 50, 45.

I passed my first attempt in 75 questions, and that's after being out of school for eleven years!

It really doesnt matter what score you must get to pass the exam. Some say NCLEX is easier compared to Kaplan or the other way around. There are also people getting around 70-85 (over 100 items) but failed the exam. Others getting only 50-70 and successfully passed.

I passed getting 70-80+ on saunders and NCLEX4000.Stopped at 75 on my 1st attempt. But then again it really depends..Goodluck.

i took kaplan and i was doing pretty badly on the question trainer exams. qt 1 through 7 : 51,50,53,56,54,50 and 54 and my readiness test was a mere 51% and mind you i took this readiness test a day before my nclex rn exam. i passed my boards on the first try with just 75 questions. i believe kaplan is way much harder than the real nclexrn but it is definitely a very nice practice tool. good luck to you!!

Don't get too hung up on predictor scores. The situation has gone both ways for many people. Instead rely on your own judgement for how hard you have been working and how you feel about your knowledge of the material.

If you do a search on amazon with the name you will see the book

i took the kaplan readiness and scored a 68% so...idk.... i really hope this means i'm going to pass. i take my nclex-pn tomorrow for the first time and i must admit i am freaking out!!!! i feel like i haven't had nearly enough time to study...and i'm just hoping i've studied enough.....

@ my school we needed to pass hesi with a 950....and i had to take it three times because the first two times i kept getting between 918-902....

i just don't want to have the sucky feeling again...you know- that disappointed sucky feeling. :eek:

So i take my nclex in 2 weeks and scared I wont pass.

My kaplan score from qtrainers are

1=60

2=59

3=64

4=63

5=68

6=72

7=70

is there hope?

I have taken three readiness tests, got 55, 64, and 68 for kaplan. I have my test in a few weeks however I have heard from lots of ppl, even my kaplan insturctor who says that these scores of 60-65 percent range are doing really great for kaplan. I definately try not to get bent out of shape and use other sources tho.

The lacharity book is a purple and red book all about delegation and prioritization and it is pretty good

I'm on the same boat! I take the nclex next week and have been scoring between a 65-77% on Kaplan trainers. I've used different sources [Mosby's, Saunders, LaCharity] and I find that Kaplan questions tend to be a little more difficult and sometimes the information is incorrent when I refer to my books. I think it just depends on the source you're using and mainly on YOU! Everyone has a different opinion regarding the score you should be getting, but the truth of the matter is that the scores you get on a practice test isn't really relevant because they're not ADAPTIVE TESTS like the nclex.

SO rather than getting hung up on the numbers go by your intuition and how you feel. Do you feel prepared?? If so, TAKE IT! Especially if you graduated recently and the info is still fresh.

BEST OF LUCK TO US! I take it next week so I know how you feel ;)

Thanks for this thread!!!

I received my ATT today and decided to take one last practice test to gauge my readiness. I scored 83% on Saunders so I went ahead and scheduled the exam for tomorrow. Then I took another test and got a 73%, so my confidence went down. I think I need to stop practicing, relax and go into the exam with confidence.
