Possible to get into nursing school with a C? Has anyone ever?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Updated:   Published

Has anyone ever gotten into nursing with a C? I received a C in English Comp 2 last semester. Quite honestly, I was happy because the class started out with 24 people and the last week of class we only had 7 people including me. I was happy I survived. Then I realized, "Oh no, there is an actual C on my transcript." I just hear how you have to have A's and B's....really only A's in order to even be considered for admission. I know nursing school is competitive. So will this affect me? Also I haven't taken Chemistry yet but for some reason I just know it's going to be extremely hard. I'm just prepared for the worse. If I get a C in that class, will that affect me too? I just hear how Chemistry is very difficult especially for people who do not take a liking to math. I like to look at all possible scenarios. I promise I'm not a negative person! ?

Also, if you did get in with a C, was it your first time applying? Or did you apply several times before with no luck?

Most nontraditional nursing programs look at our prerequisite GPA much more closely; undergrad programs are not my area of expertise.

It depends on your school on how they select students. I was in the same situation with Statistics because I took it online. I barely passed with a C. I also got a C in Anatomy and Physiology 1. Only 2 C's I have ever gotten. The rest of my grades were mostly A's and some B's. I got into my schools nursing program though with a 3.4 overall gpa. So I wouldn't worry to much about that C, esecially since it's not a prereq course.

I received 2 C's. One in A&p1 and one in Micro. That was after I failed A&p because I was going through some personal issues and for some really stupid reason I decided to just stopping going to class. The only reasons I got accepted into my program was because I was pretty much a straight A student and I received an 83% on my TEAS V the first time I took it. That and I think I had a lot of prayers going for me lol.

If you were able to get in after failing A&P plus you got in the first time you applied....then there's hope for me!! LOL

I had all Bs for pre-reqs except for a C in Micro and was able to get into a traditional BSN program. I had to make up for my grades with work experience, good TEAS scores, foreign language, previous Bachelor's, and local resident but it is possible!

My school doesn't require the TEAS test. Only ACT score. I guess I have to score high.

You will get into a program but it may not be the one you are hoping to get into : (

From personal experience, it took me 5 rejections before the one acceptance to get into nursing school! It's so competitive to get into nursing. most schools will only take the "cream of the crop".

I had all As and Bs with the exception of a D in micro. I retook the course and ended up getting a B.

You need to work as hard as you can from here on out so that you can maintain AT LEAST a 3.0 GPA. I know you can do it! Whatever you do, do not give up : )) best of luck to you!!!!
