Hi, I wanted to create an updated thread for PORTAGE LEARNING as most are somewhat old, or sporifice-ish. Here can you please answer:
What classes you took?
How easy or hard were the courses?
Are you currently taking courses?
Are the exams proctored/webcam proctored/ or just web page locked by the software they use?
I' am currently in their Nutrition course and plan on taking the rest of my pre reqs there as the program I want to go to accepts them (they are regionally accredited).
PLEASE SHARE =]

I don't care for physical books...they are heavy. LOL. I'm a total techie. I take notes on my ipad with my Apple pencil.

FAU’s part time BSN program does.

Then make a list of schools you want to attend and check their equivalency transfer system. If it's not there, have a conversation with someone in the registrar's office. It's on you, because as I've mentioned earlier, even schools say they accept it may have questions once they get the transcript. Are you really asking strangers on the internet to provide you an all inclusive list of every school that might take Portage and that does not take Portage?
Also, none are going to say "Portage" in the equivalency system. You'll need to look for Geneva College.

To be clear, the transcript says Portage on it enough to let them know "this transcript is a little different". Just because everything is online now, doesn't mean you just sign up at portage without some guarantees.
Unless you have a time crunch, I would recommend a regular school. The structure and the deadlines will better prepare you. You CAN learn this material from Portage if you put the effort in. I even think the Portage classes are harder if you do them properly (which you should if you want to have another person's life in your hands). The portage labs are damn hard, or at least A&P 1 was. Tests are fill in the blank in your own words vs. multiple choice at my brick and mortar school (also online). It took me almost 7 months to do 1 class at Portage, primarily because I had other classes, work, and was trying to do it the correct way. Anybody that says they did it in 30 days or less and got an A, straight up cheated. You can't convince me otherwise.
Adding - Most schools haven't accepted classes from Geneva / Portage, so it's not a simple as them just looking it up in their equivalency system to add the course for you. They'll have to research it. Make sure you know 100% they'll take it. I mentioned before, I had approvals first and STILL had to fight to get it accepted. If you're going to a for-profit type like Chamberlain, Herzing, South College, Keiser (not that you can't become a good nurse there), I think they accept them fairly easily.
Augusta University's nursing program (formerly Medical College of Georgia) accepts Portage, as does Brenau's nursing programs. Simply check with the schools that one is applying to, as previously stated from other posts. I've not found any rhyme or reason as to why some community colleges won't accept Portage/Geneva but then a school like Augusta University will. Just do your research and then do what's best for you. Good luck!
I took General Chemistry 103 through Portage and it was good. It took me a little bit to understand some of the main concepts but I managed to get a B in the course.
Does anyone know how to properly enter the courses that were taken on Portage through NursingCas? I can see my unofficial transcript but I’m not sure how many credit hours I need to accurately enter on NursingCas.
I do not recommend using Portage Learning, for some reason recently their support is very poor. I have left multiple voicemails & e-mails but have not received a response. In fact I am going to call and request a refund as I paid $700 for my class and it is not worth it with their lack of support. My advice is to look for a program that is easy to contact and will support their students.

What kind of support were you expecting that you aren't getting? It's a completely online class at your own pace that you have a year to do. If you need a lot of 1:1 time with a professor, then a live class is the way to go. They answered emails from me, usually in a timely manner and let me know if they were going to be out. They made test corrections for me when I challenged an answer. That's about all I reached out to my professor for.
