What Members Are Saying (AI-Generated Summary)

Members are discussing their experiences with taking various courses through Portage Learning, such as Nutrition, A&P, Chemistry, and Psychology. They are sharing tips, asking for feedback, and seeking advice on exams, course difficulty, and acceptance of credits by schools. Some members have concerns about the acceptance of Portage courses by schools, while others are offering help and resources to fellow students.

Hi, I wanted to create an updated thread for PORTAGE LEARNING as most are somewhat old, or sporifice-ish. Here can you please answer:

What classes you took?

How easy or hard were the courses?

Are you currently taking courses?

Are the exams proctored/webcam proctored/ or just web page locked by the software they use?

I' am currently in their Nutrition course and plan on taking the rest of my pre reqs there as the program I want to go to accepts them (they are regionally accredited).

PLEASE SHARE =]

Would someone mind naming schools that do or do not take Portage classes? I'm looking at taking micro through them. Planning on applying to GW, Marymount, FIU, U Arizona, OHSU, U Colorado, and University of Washington. Probably more but that's just the list I've compiled so far.

As an update to my comment, I ended up signing up for micro through University of Rochester. I contacted all of my schools and several said they either didn't take portage or were iffy about it. Rochester has been a great experience so far. I signed up with 5 weeks left in the semester, and I should have no problem completing the course on time - I work full time and pretty much just study on weekends. I had one question that I emailed the professor about and they responded within a day.

NnekaBaby I am taking Chem 103 do you still have your note that you would be willing to share? I am working on the Labs and am having a hard time getting them "correct" according to the professor

I am also taking Chem 103 and would appreciate notes ?

I wish that I had saved it. You are the 3rd person to ask. A lot of it was on Youtube.

Do you remember the name of the Youtube channel?

Hey guys anyone take a&p2 with portage? I took a&p1 and got an A thanks to quiz let but I’m struggling with A&P2 any tips ? Thanks in advance

Hi everyone I just registered for CHEM 121 but realized you need to have a working webcam not sure why because I love taken micro , a&p1 and 2 and didn’t need this feature.

For the Human Anatomy and Physiology I final exam, what is the format like? Is it only multiple choice or a mix of short answers?

I know I’m late to the party but I found out about Portage from the Admission Rep from UC College of Nursing AEMSN program. Also, I found that UT in Austin has on their website that they accept Portage science courses for their a AEMSN program. Which is extremely surprising because typically TX schools always want to capitalize on your $$.

***Update***

I started my BSN at South College 2 days ago (with all of my Portage classes). I got in with no problem. I graduate September 2021!

Did you apply to the LVN to BSN program or the ABSN program @ South College? I am preparing for admission for South. I am in term 2 of my LVN program and doing portage classes on the side in my spare time. Thanks in advance and I wish you luck in your program.

I just finished Math 110, Intro to Statistics. I finished the course in 13 days. I ended up with 562/565. There are 10 modules, and each module has various sets of problems that need to be completed prior to taking the exam. You are only allowed to take one exam per day. The exams closely reflect the homework. So if you actually work a few problems before the exams, you should be fine.

I'm in the process of completing English 101 as well. I am about half way done. There are 8 papers that need to be written, all between 3-5 pages. So far the teacher grades fairly and I am sitting around a 98%.

@mrhare0 I am currently enrolled in Intro to Statistics with Matt. How many hours did you dedicate to work on this? I would like this to get this by the end of March?

The first thing that I will say is AVOID telling prospective schools that you are attending Portage learning. When I did that, many freaked out. Your transcript will say ”Geneva College”. Go with that if you can.

Exam are given via a lockdown browser but there is no webcam to see you or your surrounds sssooooo. I pretty much took all of mine at 3 am in bed or 3 am at work on my lunch break.

Test are timed...to include Lab Test. I came armed with a ADHD letter from my doctor. This allotted me twice the time to complete all tests. The school forgot to reset the time for lab tests. It only gave me 30 mins. When I brought this to their attention, I was allowed to retake the test.

So far, I’ve taken:

Nutrition - super easy, you can complete it in a week, if you wanted to.

Statistics - As easy as statistics can be... Youtube and Chegg are a must. This took me a month

Chem 103 - Horrible class... hopefully they revise it by the time that you take it...I complained ALOT. There are 3 Youtube channels that saved my life. Chegg was the best money that I spent this year. It took me 3 months to complete this class...3 months and 2 days to be exact. If you need help studying, let me know. I still have my study material.

I just started Sociology today...8 essays and a final exam term paper... yay me.

I have English with research next.

I also need Computers & Literacy but Portage doesn’t offer it so I’m going to take it thru Rio Salado. It’s a good school...just not self-paced.

Hello -

Do you still have any of your CHEM 103 notes? Or do you any notes from A&P courses?  If so, how can I contact you?

Thanks so much for sharing and paying it forward! ?

I've thrown away all notes. I kept them for a while...until it felt like hoarding. Then after that...everyone asked for them. Sorry.
