I am an RN. My niece is 18 and hoping to go to nursing school. Recently she told me that there will be no poop cleaning at her nursing school or in the hospital she plans to work in. "I am not going to be THAT kind of nurse. I won't have to change adult diapers."
I was shocked when I heard this! Why had I and all of my nursing coworkers chosen "poop" nursing schools! Where is this special poop free hospital?

Sounds like she is very mis-informed.

In her own lala land...if she cannot handle the poop, she couldn't be a nurse..
Yup. I bet she isn't alone either.

How does she expect to get though fundamentals lab and clinicals without dealing with body fluids and the such?

Lets be honest..RN's don't deal with poop as much. They do but not like cnas and lvns

I disagree with this statement. And be prepared for the backlash.

Maybe (maybe!!) in LTC. In the ER and other hospital units in which I have worked the aides/techs/etc. seem to have run for the hills every time one of my pt's has an "explosion." Plus it seems when I (perhaps with the help of another RN) gets the pt all cleaned, the tech suddenly appears and says "oh, wow, I was just about to come help you with that." This, of course, is not representative of all techs, but it is pretty naive, and, well, not factual in my experience, to say that RNs do not deal with :poop: "as much."

LOL, She gonna Learn today! Far too frequently there are not enough CNA/PCT to do the "dirty work" and the LPNs and RNs will have to do them.
And with an attitude like that, they will run when they see you coming or find something else to do.
