a pool in the sun

here we are 3 years into our move from the uk to the usa, and today after 3 weeks in our new house that we have had built, is a swimming pool which right at this minute is having its first taste of water.

we have had a roller coaster ride in our 3 years.

we came with ogp and had a great first 18 months in st croix, one of america's virgin islands. living in the carribean was an experience that could never be repeated. the experiences that i came across at the only island hospital was something that the majority of nurses never get. the sea and sun were wonderful.

we then spent some time travelling and working in different hospitals, in reno, pheonix and sacramento.

we have now decided to settle in arizona, and although due to a car crash we have had a few rough months, i am now back in work with a permanent position. i do have another surgery to have later this year which will be another bummer, but through it all we have still been able to have a lifestyle that is very different than what was on offer to us in the uk.

we have special friends here from the uk, and are about to be joined by more english friends.

my experience with ogp was a good one, so its not all bad for those of you who are signed with them and worry about your contract, although if things go wrong then it can be. but thats the same for you even if you sign with a hospital.

i just wish that those of you who are waiting to come here are able to get your visas and start to experience life over here, and maybe one day we will meet up around our new pool !!!!

glad things are working out for you. There are a lot of good experiences out there but unfortunately we tend to hear more on the bad. My plan for a house once we finally arrive in AZ is a pool or plenty of room for one :)

The pool looks great and I enjoyed paddling, I am looking forward to seeing it full. Got my cozzy ready

We too have an almost built pool, and I can hardly wait to see it finished at the moment our back yard looks like a building site.

well it started to fill just before 2pm yesterday and we are still about 2 foot from the top. dh reckons maybe another few hours.

cant wait.

It has been three years?! Wow, times flies . . . .

Congrats on the pool.

Well done Cariad we are really happy for you both you are good people - just waiting for our invite! :)

We have been stateside for six months - the time has flown by so far fingers crossed things have gone great for us - we are just waiting for it all to come crashing down around our ears! We too are having a house with a pool built we will be moving in in the fall and are very excited.

We have also just got back from vacation to san diego which was great- now planning a few trips to the mountains to cool down in the very hot summer which is on its way!

25 hours to fill the pool, 12,000 gallons of water so we were told by the pool guy who arrived this afternoon. so have been in twice today, plenty of room for me to swim, and it pleases me to say that i can do the breaststroke with no problems with my arm. so will have to exercise as much as possible and maybe lessen the pain when my arm has to be operated on.

Sitting here looking out on a grey, misty(though not cold)Scottish "summers" day a dip in a pool sounds heavenly.Good luck with your op. Cariad, hope it all goes well.

it is great. but only yesterday we were having a conversation about the long days of midsummer in scotland, and the georgeous skies that we had.........of course thats when it wasnt raining.

every american that finds out that we are from scotland want to go there.

but back to the pool, where we will be swimming soon, and hopefully later when our american friends arrive from manchester.
