Polk State Spring 2020

Published

Hey everyone, I'm starting this thread for Polk State College Spring 2020 hopefuls. Right now, my total score is 111.15. I'm retaking my TEAS Wednesday (right now my TEAS score is 76) and I'm retaking Algebra summer II for a higher grade. We shall see how it goes...

Just took my teas for the first time (finally) and scored an 88! Hopefully that and my previous degree makes up for my lower gpa. Good luck everyone I hope we all get accepted ?

That’s great! I got a 90 on my teas and am also hoping that my previous degree helps me out in the points department. Good luck to everyone!

Hello again everyone,

I'm about to submit my application sometimes this week. I am just waiting until my Teas Scores are posted on my passport account before I submit the application. I had a question about the pre req gpa. I have completed them all but was wondering about the human nutrition requirement. I read that it is not required to get into the program until next year but will they include that into my prereq gpa when I apply since I already have completed the course? Because it would raise my prereq gpa up a little more. I know on the passport prereq gpa, it doesn't include the nutrition course in it. It is only included in the program requirement GPA for the first sequences of nursing courses. I just wanted to see if they will factor that in to the prereq gpa since it would increase my points.

Sorry Knightmurse, I'm unsure of that. She told me they factor in ALL prerec classes, even the ones that are not required to apply, so I would assume so. I'm taking the nutrition class now, so it won't factor in for me for the application either way. Good luck!!

Looking at the Spring 2019 thread, it looks like students who scored a 111 were accepted and students who scored a 109 were on the alternate list (and got in). I hope it's the same this go around!! My points are right at 113. Guess we'll all know in about three weeks...

Does anyone know what the first semester of the generic nursing program is like in terms of how many days a week are classes and typically what time, any online courses, clinicals, etc?

My sister started this term. Her classes are in Winter Haven on Tuesdays and Thursday with clinicals on Wednesdays. She also has to log so many hours in the lab (I think like 3 hours a week). The second semester I believe is at the Lakeland campus on Mondays and Wednesdays, but I'm not positive on that.

The Tuesday and Thursday class is from 8am-4pm. Clinicals run longer I believe.

I’m a little worried because not all of my courses are showing up on my transcripts on passport. They were received on 7/15 so hopefully they have them reviewed and inputted by the deadline so I can apply! I emailed the registrar to inquire about this.

I'd definitely make sure to stay on top of it. The application says all transcripts and test scores, etc must be on file prior to. Keep calling every day until they're on there. My sister had to request another school three time electronically before they were uploaded. I have transcripts from three different schools and they all went in right away.

Yeah it’s weird bc some of the classes are listed on there from each of the two schools I attended previously, so I know they received them, they’re just not all on there. And some of them that are missing are pre-reqs that are required. Ughhh so stressful.

Okay they got my transcript situation fixed thank goodness lol

I read on last years forum that acceptance letters arrived just a week after the application closed, so I’m hoping that’s the case again for us! I’m so impatient. Also, Call me crazy but if I’m accepted I’m going to be making the commute from my house in Orlando rather than moving out to Polk county. Anybody else planning on doing this?

That's great news. Only a few days left for applications to go in!! This waiting game is dreadful!!

Glad to hear you got your transcript situation fixed. That in itself can be stressful since its beyond your control sometimes. Orientation is on sept 27th so it does make since that they would send the acceptance letters out quickly which is right around the corner if you think about it. I'm still nervous about it because I applied to Seminole's state program and they don't send out decisions out until mid October and that's my first choice if I get into both programs. I'm still weighing out the pros and cons for both institutions. It just really depends who gives me better financial aid. I too am going to commute from Orlando to Polk County. I'll be working during the program and my job is in Orlando, so you aren't crazy. But I live right by the 528 by the Idrive area so it takes me like 5 mins to get onto I4. Good luck!
