Politcally incorrect rant aka how my day went

Published

If anyone here thinks that healthcare is not already suffering because of Medicare cuts and reimbursement cuts as a result of Obamacare and the general state of the economy... are smoking some great crack (and I'd like some). And the bad news is, we are in a downward spiral with very little to no hope of stopping it. Staffing cuts are leaving our hospital workers overwhelmed and unable to provide the level of care that we once did. Value-based pricing, process measure indicators, and customer satisfaction scores, which Medicare reimbursement is now based on, have nowhere to go but down. Which equals more decreased reimbursement and even more staffing cuts. Our national leaders from the left and the right should hang their head in shame at what they have done to our national budget.

And hospital administrators need to pull their heads out of their elitist, overly educated a$$, and join us "peons" on the front line. Then, they can tell us we need to do more. We need a practical paradigm to emerge from this nightmare--- not more esoteric weak management and leadership philosophy from the school of BS model of useless politically-correct drivel. Our leaders need to extricate their lard butts from their inane committee meetings and take a peek at the state of things. Stop telling us "we know this is a problem, we are working on it" and do something about it---- that is why we pay you the big bucks.

Couldn't help it, had to see what a "Cookie A Monkey" was. Those socks are cool. Looks difficult. I'm impressed. So do they have to be made with 4 DP's or can they be made with circulars?

Two circs can always be substituted for DPNs.

I bet they could. The pattern is set up so each DPN is a repeat, so if you did them on two circulars, you'd have 2 repeats per needle. It's one of the more popular Ravelry projects, so if you searched through them, I bet someone's done them on circs. I'm really excited--it's my first sock that isn't just stockinette and ribbing. I'm almost finished with the first one, but they're on hold. I recently realized how close Christmas is and I'm still working on presents.

Almost any pattern can be translated into a two circs version. If you're using 5 DPNs it's easy (2 DPNs = 1 circ); 4 DPNs require a little more tweaking to make the numbers fit. Keep in mind that if it's necessary, you can have more stitches on one circ, especially if by doing so it will help prevent breaking up a repeat over two needles.

Thanks Meriwhen, that makes sense. I have only done stockinette stitch socks. When I'm making a hat on one circular at some point I have to switch to DPN, and I have to adjust the number of stitches on the needles depending on where the decreases are and the pattern. Guess this is the same logic as having a differing number of of stitches on the circs---

Might blow my mind when I get to the gusset though....

It shouldn't...though you may find stitch markers to be helpful in this case :) Just mark off where your gussets are and you should be just fine. If you have problems with it PM me and I'll try to explain it better.

So do I and in the last month TWO uninsured Americans on vacation arrived at my hospital expecting surgery for conditions they should have had corrected at home before heading north. But no, they heard we had free healthcare up here and didn't bother to get travel insurance.

Good luck to the provincial government on getting that money back.

Hmm, sounds like just about every ER in Southern Cali. I dare not be more explicit than that for fear of sounding anti-immigration, which I'm not. But, our system is all busted up.

Curious to know what kind of surgery they expected to have for a condition they could/should've corrected before going on vacation? It would seem to belong in the category of elective, so I don't get why they went ahead with the surgery.

Does Canada have a law like EMTALA? Broadly defined = the ED must evaluate everyone who walks through the door and treat an emergent condition regardless of their ability to pay.

 Maybe I'll schedule a trip to Canada and ask for a tummy tuck. ;) (not serious.for anyone who's about to burn up their keyboard with la flamme.)

I cannot express in words how hilarious I find it that a political rant dissolved into an intensive knitting discussion. I love this forum :D

OK for the hearing impaired. What I am saying is our leaders ---- national and local (left and right) are running through our nation/ healthcare system like a swarm of locus devorhoring and destroying everything, and leaving a pile of **** it the wake. Clear?

Was this an audio rant? I must have my speakers on mute.

Now I am going to go knit something.

So? What's on your needles today?

I agree with 2 circulars for socks.... It's really the only way to go.

Disagree (1). Although I do love my circs, I can't fathom how working with TWO of them makes the work easier or faster. DPNs all the way, man.
