last night we were at a party. some guys brought fireworks and were shooting them off. one of the guys who had too much to drink said "hey lets shoot one @ "jack" (not his real name). everyone said no not a good idea. he did. the bottle rocket instead of going in the air was aimed @ "jack" . it flew lit right in his eye. i went down there with clean damp paper towels to apply pressure to stop the bleeding.
our dear friend "jack" is now waiting for sugery and will lose his eye.
was what i did the right thing? my immediate thought was to stop the bleeding. there was lots of blood spurting everwhere. i feel horrible about what happened.
I'm glad jack is doing well. Jack was very lucky you were on the scene. I don't think I would have done anything different. I really hate fireworks. They are illegal in our state to use. Funny you can buy them at every parking lot though. I have three idiot neigbors that insist on using them. I see the police cars go by several times while they are using them but will they stop them even if it's illegal?
Shouldn't this "friend" be charged with something?? I mean, even if he was drunk, he still purposely tried to injure your friend. I would make sure he is held accountable so it doesn't happen again.
I hope your friends eye is going to be ok. I'm gald the Dr. is hopefull. Good luck to him.
Thank you all for your kind words. "Jack" came home today. Surgery was finally done yesterday evening. The doctor is very hopeful and was able to save the eye. It's still kind of touch and go. He still may need a prosthetic."Jack" is in good spirits and is happy to be home and alive.
This is very encouraging! I'll continue to pray for the best possible outcomes for you all (including a little something for the "friend" who thought this was a good idea...).
