I am a nursing student, I just finished my medical surgical nursing, I did not pass. One reason for this is that I started with a 70 on my first test, which is 5 short. So I developed serious anxiety, I cant get things right, I cant move pass my first test. I was always top of the class in foundation. My ability to concentrate was lost, I knew my material well enough before the class, I answer question, I teach student in my class how things works, but the moment am in the exam room, the fear of the first exam creep and I start making indecision about the right answer, to the point that I will pick the wrong one. I am not use to do question review but at the end of the semester I look at one of the review CD and I found a lot of the question that was ask during the semester. Please guys I seriously need help... what do I need to for next year.

One thing that stood out to me in your post was that you looked at the review cd at the end of the semester.
Don't wait to be taught, and told what to study. Go and get info from everywhere, cd's, online, study groups, texts, as well as notes and lectures. There are even lectures on you tube. Take the initiative and use everything to learn with.
good luck

Does your school have a tutoring program? My school had one, but they did more than tutor. They talked about and helped students with test anxiety which I think you could benefit from.
I always get books early, I don't wait till the week before classes start. I start reading while on break so I have a head start. Good luck!
:redbeathe you also may try to envision that you are standing in a room where the people who are testing you are nude. It works for people who give a speech and it may help you focus on the correct answer by calming you prior to each question. Remember the first answer you have pop in your head is usually the correct one. Do not change your answer with an after thought unless you are positive you know the answer is the one you are wanting to change it to.Oh, also when you are studying for an exam try to put a thought about how you feel about key points in your head by liking it to hmmmmmmmm say a football play or any other favorite past-time you may have. That works well also....
GOOD LUCK my friend.

Sounds like you have test anxiety. I had no computer experience starting school and much was done on the computer. I had computer anxiety. Sheer raw determination got me through. Sounds like you know the material and second guessing is the problem. The group of students I worked with closely in school discussed this problem. We were all prone to it. All of us had to admit that the questions we got wrong were due to it. We all agreed to make a concerted effort not to do this. Initially it was a challenge but got easier as time went on.
thanks you guys for the contribution. some of you discuss the problem am facing and i really appreciate it. somebody says you can get a lecture from you tube, how can i get that. where can i find a great resource to test my self more. am willing to do anything to be perfect. everyone i helped this semester make it but i did not.please guys any help will save me next year.
:yeah:Toby there are web sites, dictionaries,Forums(such as this one),and articles here to name a few that you can find on the internet. If you take each section you are presented in class and resarch it on line you will not go wrong. Also try using the nursing process to make yourself a plan of care for what you are studying ( I know they are seemingly trudge work) however it will place in your mind the right ways to remember what to do when tested. Again, good luck :)

you should be posting this question on the general nursing student discussion forum (https://allnurses.com/forums/f50/) where it will be seen and answered by more students. also see the posts on these two student threads:

i know this might sound funny.. but it can help....
you need a beta blocker!
even though you might not have heart problems... if you talk to your doc about it she/he i guarentee will prescribe you some lopresser or something like that for test anxiety.... you could always get a script for xanax or ativan or something like that... but that could cloud your judgement... im working on my F-NP and trust me... get a script for metoprolol 25mg... take a half one to try out at first before a test... just use em prn..... i know you might think im crazy.... but i assure you i am not....you will still be sharp minded but your anxiety will literally diminish...... it's not for everyone... but most ppl it works on....
talk to your doc about a script for it.... and explain why... they will understand ....
wish ya the best of luck...
