Please, help me with Penn Foster question...

Published

hi everyone!

i haven't posted in a while, but have been getting encouragement from everyone's postings.

i enrolled with excelsior the last week of december 2010, and so far have done a&p, health differences, transitions, chronicity, repro, and i'm scheduled to take ls1 7/18. planning on being done with ls2 and ls3 by mid september.

now, i still have micro, life span, and information literacy to take.

i requested approval to clep human growth and development in lieu of life span and was granted such.

however, i got an answer about the info literacy course that i don't quite get... pls, read below:

"penn foster is not regionally accredited by the american council on education. the eng*103 information literacy course is currently approved, however that approval can change at any time. for this reason, i am not able to offer formal course approval. if you choose to take the course and send an official transcript for evaluation, i can apply the credit if the course is ace approved at that time."

i don't understand what this means... i read here so many threads about different people taking il with penn foster... i'm really confused. i'd love to hear from you, experienced gals/guys, before i call excelsior about it. and if you all think i can take it with penn foster, would you mind giving me the "code" for the course? i looked all over their website and didn't find anything...:uhoh3: sorry, i feel so stupid right now!!

thanks so much!

Weird, I took Info to Lit at Penn Foster and transferred it to Excelsior for credit with no problem and that was less than a year ago. Who wrote that reponse to you? I do find it odd. Hope you find your answer... that comment doesn't make sense to me unless.... they changed the rules.

Good Luck!

Hi Lisa!

That was e-mailed me by my "advisor".

Hoping to hear more from other folks here

Thanks so much for taking the time to post!

I just completed this 3 weeks ago. Excelsior did accept this. It takes 3 hours and far less expensive. Not sure who wrote that to you, but many of us here know quite a bit!:):) Good luck with your studies!

Sounds like EC might stop accepting Penn Foster in the future, but that's purely speculation on my part, based on nothing. ;) If I were you, I'd take it through them sooner rather than later!

I took it with no problem, my advisor did not mention anything about that... actually my advisor said alot of people use Penn Foster. It was an easy A. I would take it and save yourself the $, I don't know if once they post it on your transcript officially if they can take it away.

Thanks guys!!

I'm gonna go ahead and take it...

Can anybody tell me the course number or how to find it on Penn Foster's site? I looked all over and don't see anything  Just see a variety of programs to enroll and certifications, etc... nothing related to independent courses.

Again, thank you so much!!

OK, I found the course online (ENG 103)!!! WOW!!! that was a lot of work!!

Already enrolled and will be doing it tomorrow night after work.

Thank you so much to all who answered! You guys rock!!!:yeah::yeah:

Will let you know what happens after I send the transcript and request the credit.

Saying a prayer... :)

Good advice.. maybe I'd better jump on that this week, too!! :lol2:

Is the course ACE approved?

UPDATE -:

Course is done, exams taken, 95 average, total of 2 hours, $105.00.

Tomorrow I'll be calling Student Services at Penn Foster to have them send an official transcript to EC (have to pay fee separately - not sure how much, will find out tomorrow).

Will let you all know if I have any trouble with EC accepting it

My advisor at EC recommended taking info-lit through Penn Foster. I told her I needed to watch my money, she said this course will cover it. I had no problems. I took it a month ago.
