Plan B

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I'm interested in hearing what everyone's Plan B is if they don't get into the nursing program right away. I have 3 daughters and a husband and can't afford to just sit and wait. I don't know anyone who can afford to do that.

I am confident that I will get in, but believe you should always have a backup plan.

If I don't get in, I will take a few courses and reapply until they get sick of my asking and let me in.

(ignore) .. sorry, I was having trouble with my posting earlier and doubled up this post.

Woogy, I feel like my real home is in Aurora, but I will be happy to be anywhere in Colorado. Colorado springs is a beautiful area to live in. Where do you live now? I am in a tiny town of NC. Just like Mayberry. Do you plan on moving back to Colorado when you graduate?

We are moving to Boise, Idaho. I live in Las Vegas. I've been here for 13 years and am dreading the next 2 to come. Schools here (for our kids) are nothing to be praised. My kindergardner was allowed to wear his costume Thursday, but no other grade was allowed! My other son is a 1st grader. How messed up is that? Plus they put both of my boys on the wrong school bus the 1st day and they were missing for almost 2 hours :crying2:

(This happened AFTER they called me to ask which bus they were to take, then they put them on a different one) NOT impressed! I want to live in Mayberry!!!

I can see how Mayberry would be a good thing from where you are!!

How awful I couldn't imagine how I would feel if the school told me they LOST my kids!!

Out here my kids were not allowed to wear costumes either. I have a 5th, 3rd and 2nd grader in my house. However, I get extra credit in my English class if I dress up for Halloween so that's fun. :) We live on the Bible belt, so I am not to surprised that the kids aren't being allowed to wear a costume. It's sad because Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. The kids have off Halloween day this year so the get to get dressed up and go trick or treating. woohoo

When do you find out if you got into a program? What school are you trying to get into?

I'll definitely keep applying! :)

If I can, working or not, during the Spring '06, I'm planning on taking at least two of the 4 RN-BSN classes I have left. Then WHEN I get accepted for Fall '06, I'll have only 2 classes left! If I feel like it during the summer, I can take the other two, or wait until after I graduate with my ADN.

I'd rather have them all complete, work for a lil' while to get used to it all, then apply for the RN-BSN program. (If I work a year, my employment/hospital scholarship will be paid off, then I can get tuition reimbursement to pay for the actual upper level nursing courses for my BSN!!) :nurse: :nurse: :nurse: :nurse:

Yes, plan B's are sometimes good too! :balloons:

Fun, I haven't been on the boards as much lately but just wanted to say I was so happy when I saw your siggy "Not giving up". Your plans sound good and I am glad! HUGS

I thought I would find out in about 10ish days, but just found out that it won't be until the 1st week of December!! Uggggggg! I applied at Community College of Southern Nevada ADN-RN program. My kids had yesterday off (Nevada Day---state holiday) and Halloween off, but I just remembered that I have Micro lecture on Mondays, which means...no trick-or-treating with Mom this year. My dh and mil always seem to have to do this without me!

That's our "Plan B"! I have to drive across town at rush hour, with the heavy side of the freeway, to get to class by 6pm, so I leave at 4:45 and wont get home until about 8. Talk about missing it all!!

:rotfl: Oh! that's too funny!! That never crossed my mind!

btw cute cat!

Like many said, if I don't get in, then I'll just work wherever, probably take some more classes or repeat ones to get a better grade, and I'll keep applying to schools.

At this point of my life there is no way I am gonna change my career plans/ goals.
