Plan B

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I'm interested in hearing what everyone's Plan B is if they don't get into the nursing program right away. I have 3 daughters and a husband and can't afford to just sit and wait. I don't know anyone who can afford to do that.

I am confident that I will get in, but believe you should always have a backup plan.

If I did not get into the only accelerated BSN program that I applied to, I was going to work with my fiance to build up our soon-to-be-relocated acupuncture practice.

But I got in. I might still help by working one day a week, although the school suggests that I don't.

I'm working on my BSN in the meantime. Since I'm going full time, and because there are four science courses (Chem or Bio, A&P1, A&P2, and Micro) by the time I've finished all the pre-reqs I'll qualify for the BSN program instead of the ADN program. So I just decided to go for the BSN, but also when I tried to find a job here locally nothing paid well enough (like 7-8 an hour) to justify my working! That's WITH the 60 some eclectic college credits I already had. So much of those wages would have gone into childcare that it was pointless to even start, my husband veto'd the job offer I got. (Medical billing in a nice Dr's office.)

Thank you very much. I love it when a plan comes together.

But if it doesn't, back-up plans are always good.

I have no Plan B. Nursing is what I was born to do. I have looked at other careers but nothing interests me as much as nursing does. I'm applying (again) in the spring. This time, I am applying to more than one campus. I'm attending a statewide community college so I can go wherever I want. I plan on applying to every 20 something campuses. I have no kids, no husband so I can go where I want. Although, the money issue isn't looking too positive and I don't qualify for financial aid. Apparently I make too much as a CNA.
